Educators and researchers are finding that technology does not seem to be giving students the classroom advantages it once promised. Where there is poor teaching, technology may even be a deterrent from learning.
What seems to be most important is high-quality human interaction. For ICT in the classroom to work, what is needed is a skilled teacher familiar with technology who knows how to integrate it into her teaching.
How do we move forward with ICT in schools with this understanding?

first get our education system very well like foreign universities. Here matriculation failed students get B.Tech degree, shut all private universities and institutes only then our education system will be strengthened otherwise India will become a ground of unskilled engineers and managers without any knowledge. Now a days after 20 km there is a private university which only want money you pay money and get degree.Government please pay attention to this thing.Lay emphasis on quality

Anything related to school education should start with its primary stakeholders - teachers & students.
The biggest challenge for implementing ICT in school are the fact that majority of teachers are not comfortable with computers. Apart from the usual 1 week computer training, what can be done to make teachers more confident to use computers?

Sharing the first set of 3 questions:
(1) How do we motivate parents to send children to school
(2) How do we change the image of government schools as the one where nothing happens to the one which will make all our kids educated
(3) Can we instill commitment in officials to work for education

Many comments are about constraints at institutional level. My view is that computers access to n/w are available in most houses. Therefore, the need is to train the students in Information Communication Technology how to use it effectively. If Institutions have limitations, they can take help of experts in the field by organising lectures on chosen topics that would be useful for students as well as teachers. Mutual group discussions & practical demonstration based on age groups would help.

ICT integration has failed because it was always seen as a stand alone activity - unless it dovetails into every function of a teacher in the school teachers do not see any value addition. Technology has evolved over the past few years at a phenomenal rate - training programs sadly focus only on one aspect of using ICT to run the content provided by the ICT content providers. Internet access and power outages are issues too. ICT has to be seen as saving teachers time& effort for acceptance

ICT has become very complex and vast. Children are also smarter. They start handling computers from UKG level. Teachers need to acquire more skills in handling ICT. Search engines over Internet and e-Libraries have become favourites among students of all levels. e-Learning will help not only students/trainees but also Teachers. Schools, Colleges and other training institutions need to concentrate on Class rooms & Teaching techniques accordingly to self promote learning and usage of ICT.

The fundamental problem in the school administration is the lack of funds. Government should make a appropriate allocation system for funding to the schools. And here the MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION BESIDE THE FUNDING PROBLEM. THAT IS THERE SHOULD BE A SYSTEM WHICH EVALUATES THE PERFORMANCE OF FACULTY OF GOVERNMENT ORGANISATON IN A 3 - 4 YEARS OF PERIODIC INTERVAL. As almost all government organisation staff are famous for their bad work culture.

Today pass percentage in CBSE schools or state boards are above 98% and best education resources are available online. In future school education will only for providing collaborative skills. Teachers roles may reduced to a facilitator. The biggest problem today Indian youths face is they use mobile Internet only for watsapp, facebook, video sharing etc . We gave least importance to adult education http://goo.gl/AKQ07s http://goo.gl/VmXi2F Sujai G Pillai Founder www.2tion.com olpv.org
