While each smart city will have distinctive features specific to its location, demography, culture and other such factors, there maybe smart solutions to problems which are common to all cities. This contest seeks to identify such smart and innovative solutions to common problems. All questions in this category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing. Questions 1. Out of the following 21 smart solutions, select 3 solutions that should be applied to all Indian cities and provide a brief write-up (max. 50 words) to explain why. 2. Describe a ‘smart’ idea that you have seen in some other city(anywhere in the world) that you would like to see replicated in your own city. ‘Smart idea’ means doing more with less. 3. Describe 3 ways that Indian cities can reduce the gap between rich and poor. 4. List out 5 essential facts about your local municipal corporation that should be available to all citizens. Entry Deadline • Entries may be submitted online on the mygov.in portal latest by 23.59 hours (11.59 pm) on Saturday, 20th June 2015. Evaluation The submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria: • Do-ability (50%) • Innovation (50%) Award Two winners in each category will be awarded a citation from the Prime Minister at the Smart City Mission Launch on June 25th, 2015 at VigyanBhavan, New Delhi, along witha cash prize of the following amounts: • Rs. 40,000 - First Prize • Rs. 25,000 - Second Prize The winning ideas would be shared with the 100 SmartCities as potentiallyimplementablesolutions and will be considered for pilot • All questions in a particular category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing. • The participants(s) entries will be judged for each category independently and on merit. In case of short listing in more than one category, a participant will receive prize money for one category only. • The length of each answer is limited to 250 words or less. 2. The smart idea which i want to be implemented is the augmented reality shopping experience which is implemented by IBM in UK and US where when the IBM app is installed on your smartphone and the product image on the supermarket shelves are scanned you get all the information of the product without even the need of Qr or a Bar Code and the need for having the physical products on shelves is eliminated and user can get the best information and the offers to on the product.

Solution 13. Since most of us not knowing the value of energy is the reason for wasting it, if the government sets up smart meters which shall display the amount of usage that can be reduced and when public is education regarding the benefits of saving electricity using the smart meters the whole country shall move towards the saving of energy and when each unit saved in a day can save crores of units i.e. many mega units for the future generations.

Solution 16: The traffic being major problem all over India we need to get the smart parking system i.e. the multi storied parking so that the traffic because of cars parked onto the road can be reduced and when the traffic is reduced half of the accidents in the country can be reduced and the roads are freed up and it can make the transportation faster and safer.

Solution 1: Since even in this digital age due to the barriers and lots of formalities the Right to Information is not being exercised by people and friendly office must be set up so that the citizens can actually get their information rightfully with less formalities and proper grievance redressal in the police system need to implemented as still the police in most of the states do not respond quicker and a system to track to the complaint lodged must be establalished.

Ans1- 1.Smart Parking-So we can know which parking have free space before we got to that place 2.Waste water to be treated- It should be filtered and re-sent to the water tanks and reused 3.Tele Education- Basics should be available to all. Ans2-Waste management in mumbai. Ans3- 1-Increase Employment 2-Increase upper tax rate 3-Mandatory donation from riches Ans4- 1-Fast services 2-Takes care of customer complaints 3-Public Toilets for both He/She 4-Cleanliness 5-Timely disease control.

Solution 1: Make a portal as Family tree what are service used by all the families regarding all common utility like electricity bill, telephone bill, water bill, internet bill etc services which are received in a family. solution 2: order & services delivery system portal regarding small need like painter,crafts Mens & woman,auto rickshaw & taxi driver etc. they get employment and all other people get order & service delivery benefits.

Lets first discuss about the garbage issues. All major cities have heavy garbage which can be utilized for power generation and can reduce the dependency of coal based and nuclear based power. Lets Second we speak about the sewage issues. All Major cities have the sewage to be treated lets have the sewage recycled and let it for agricultural purpose in dry areas of the country.

Public waste bins across the city are taken off from the street cirners and put into the street lamp post where they can,t be tipped over or stolen. City sanitation workers have soecual key cards that allows them tonopen the compartment and empty the bin. It shall be fitted by tiny sensirs for remote management & to notify when full. The bins are asthetucally designed and colour cided to tell citizens which types of refuses goes in each garbage bin.

Building a rain harvesting system under road over-bridges ( especially in Kerala ). This system can reduce the scarcity of water in cities to a certain limit.

Intelligent traffic management - Make auto charge facility mandatory for all tolls. Cash can be optional. Also a common toll card (Available from PSU Banks) which can work throughout the country, will help manage traffic better.
