The National Statistical Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is mandated with the “Development of Environment Statistics and Development of methodology, concepts and preparation of National Resource Accounts for India.
MoSPI published the first SEEA-aligned environment accounts in 2018 as part of EnviStats India – Supplement on Environment Accounts. Since then, the scope has steadily expanded to include accounts on land, water, forests, minerals, and ecosystem services. The 2021 release of the Strategy for Environmental Economic Accounts in India (2022–2026) further guides this work, aiming to improve the quality, coverage, and policy relevance of environmental accounts. These efforts help present a systematic glimpse of the State of Environment in India in respect of various environmental assets and ecosystems.
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) in collaboration with MyGov invites entries for renaming its annual flagship publication “EnviStats India: Environment Accounts.” The initiative aims to develop a refreshed, more intuitive identity that better reflects the publication’s content, purpose, and growing relevance in the domains of sustainability, environmental policy, and data-driven governance. The contestants are required to suggest a new name for that intuitively communicates the report’s content and purpose.
Participants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the EnviStats India: Environment Accounts series and the national strategy document Strategy for Environmental Economic Accounts in India (2022–2026) to understand the requirement of this contest and to develop contextually relevant and innovative submissions.
Gratification:
A certificate to the winner will be issued by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
