Sustainable Exploitation of oil and gas potential of the North East region could be a harbinger of economic prosperity for the people of the region. Presently there seems to be a disconnect between the local communities and the Exploration and Production (E & P) operators in the region. This seems to be discouraging E&P activities in the region thereby reducing the number of takers for operations in the region. Although the Govt. of India has been taking several initiatives to promote E&P in the NER, it is essential to make the local communities an important stakeholder in the process.
Suggestions are invited from the public which could encourage people’s participation in these activities.

business with plastic. Proven technology to covert plastic to petrol exits. Why we don't use it? Helps in swaach Bharat, improves self reliance and cheap . Wonder why we don't use it? Just google!

Look at the book "The world is flat" by Thomas L. Friedman, page - 113 to 116. Excellent example that can be used, in my opinion, equally well for exploration of petroleum mining.

Plz post ideas instead of mentioning what is morally right, there should be cooperation, etc. Everybody knows there should be community cooperation for goodness sakes. Post some innovative ideas to ensure that.

dear modiji, it is said that "great power brings great responsibility" . but now-a-days we are seeing that CM/PM etc. enjoys great power with no responsibility, which originates from our faulty constitutional system. but in US system president enjoys great power with great responsibility. Is it not the need of the hour to overhaul our whole system of governance ?

The Exploration & Production activities, and for that matter any the sort of activities which are local to any Region, Distric or city, call for people's participation for achieving targetted success-level. It, however, needs to be understood that people's participation means that common man would lend his hand at the cost of his own time, energy and, may be, at times some of his resiurces. COMMON MAN HAS TO GET MOTIVATED TO GET ENGAGED IN ACTIVITIES SPONSORED BY LOCAL AUTHORITIES. NEEDS RECOGN.

People's participation in local activities, in general, or such activities that are initiated by the local authorities, is an important ingradient of success such activities. TO ENSURE PEOPLE'S PARTICIPATION, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT PEOPLE ARE ENCOURAGED TO COME FORWARD.

Normally, it is that the Government authorities, especially the ones closer to the public, i.e. the local body authorities do not hasitate to exhibit their arrogance towards whatever is suggested and whatever observations are made by people at large. Thus, by showing their disliking towards what people have to say on matters of general interest of their city, local body-authorities distance PEOPLE FROM PARTICIPATING IN ANYWAY IN ANY MATTER. THE PEOPLE FEEL AWAY FROM DECISION-MAKING PROCESS.

Oil and gas exporation are the main activities in the North-Eastern Region in which the people coming from local communities are the surest stakeholders, and their voice need to be heard. The local authorities must bear the responsibility of seeking and obtaining people's participation. THE USUAL SENSE OF SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS ON THE PART OF THE PART OF THE AUTHORITIES MUST BE GIVEN A GO-BYE. THAT IS THE BIGGEST HINDERANCE

Contd.. . It is irony is that the public money spent by Municipal Corporation, JALANDHAR, and for that matter by any local body in the country, is absolutely beyond public scrutiny. It is in full public glare that MC contractors lay roads much, much below norms openly, and the residents have hardly any say. THE PEOPLE CAN HARDLY DO ANYTHING. EVEN IF ANY MEMBER OF PUBLIC DOES TRY TO BE HEARD, HE IS HARDLY HEARD BY THE AUTHORITIES THAT BE. A REALLY DISAPPOINTING SCENARIO THAT MUST NOT BE.
