National Highway Authority of India currently is planning to build a citizen facing interface which can cater to all highway related needs of NH commuters. NHAI already has an Android mobile application called Sukhaad Yatra (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rsawh.nhia&hl=en_IN&gl=US) which needs to be upgraded and advanced further.

Citizens are invited to share their ideas on how the Sukhad Yatra app can be improved with additional features/ integrations to better service the needs of citizens. The end outcome is to improve the experience of NH commuters and build a robust medium of 2-way communication.

The tool will not be limited to but can cover the following areas:
● Informing users of construction and maintenance activities
● Allowing users to register complaints pertaining to the condition of the highway or highway activities such as toll (for eg. If wait times for a toll gate are too long or if FasTag is not working at a gate)
● Allow users to rate highways on various characteristics of the highway around their experience as a rider (on both negative and positive characteristics of experience, for example whether the NH offers a scenic route or view)
● Allow user to access emergency and first response services on the highway
● Allow users to access information on wayside amenities, petrol pumps, EV stations etc. Information about location of facilities along the route can be searched on Google Maps but this is hard to access for non smartphone users.
● Allow users to report traffic congestion, accidents, debris, toll-relates issues, request EV charging points etc to local command centres (Eg. Waze)
● The interface should be able to cater to user-needs of commuters with and without smartphones
● The interface should have a strong focus on UX, intuitive and centred around the day-to-day needs and experience of highway users.

The interface can also operate as a platform through which multiple existing private and public applications can link to such as NH’s toll free number, toll management system etc or travel related apps (MapMyIndia, Google Maps etc) which already have a high user-base. The platform should leverage strengths of existing IT applications and not reinvent where necessary.

The design should cater to all kinds of NH users such as:
● Commercial (trucking etc) who may or may not have a smartphone and a user design which caters to their needs
● Personal long-distance commuter which may not be as frequent but may have access to smartphones
● Local residents who live around the highways and use it more frequently than private long distance commuters

Submissions to this can be in the form of app mock-ups/ prototypes, presentations, concept notes on platform and other interfaces, list of desired features by commuters etc.

Tha last date of submission of ideas is 15th June 2022.

Point earning system for commuters who keep installed this Sukhaad Yatra mobile app on their phone. This will encourage use of Sukhaad Yatra app and further fruitful services through it. Points earned should provide some cash or discounts in highway side hotels.

Provide Weekly/Monthly digital pass facility on Sukhaad Yatra with discount rates on toll plaza. Commuters on highway should have digital pass on Sukhaad Yatra app for traveling on one particular route with some discount. Regular travellers found it costly to pay toll everyday on the same spot. Those who resides in nearby villages are badly affected with this toll system as they have to travel in nearby villages for some work. I don't how NHAI is dealing with this but Regular commuters should have discounted digital pass on Sukhaad Yatra mobile app.

Notification on Sukhaad Yatra app just in case a rare group blood is required by the hospitals along highway. Commuters should see the notification on mobile screen through this app if a particular hospital beside highway needs blood with rare group or unavailability of particular blood group. If that commuter is in no hurry and wishes to donate the blood to the needy one then it would save someone's life.

NHAI creates infrastructure for a better tomorrow no doubt saves time, energy & road safety. They are creating world records in fast construction.Within a couple of years we would be in line with rest of the world in road infrastructure. When large highways are built the total area of roads become water resistant for better quality & long life. With large amounts spent on these roads it needs to be permanent. NHAI needs to create certain percentage of rain harvesting in certain areas to improve ground water. This should be done while constructing the highway itself. There has to be a proper ratio of road area lost depending on soil conditions & topography. Also planting of trees along highways with proper margin for long-term green benefits.

Cont'd--Now the modern cars are front wheel drive combined with differential. The rear tyres are only idlers with breaking Can this be used for partial energy generation for air-conditioning & lights.Which otherwise would have been lost as heat due to breaking on gradients. Could it be a new concept & option in combination with petroleum engines As AC & battery charging takes away approximately 10% of the milage. This has nothing to do with NHAI But the aim of providing good roads is to save fuel & time. We are the second largest automobile manufacturers of the world. Very few designs are indigenious. Generally lighter the vehicle higher mileage but with speed the vehicle body needs to be heavier. There has to be an optimum for our condition or new generation high strength low weight concepts have to be incorporated by us.

To reduce emmison & noise from speeding vehicles on highways we should plant trees, shrubs on either side of the highway to muff the sound to villages. I have seen this in Germany on highways and railways tracks in most cases full barricade on either side. hydrogen vehicles will be the ultimate goal. But a green cover wherever possible should be planted. A part amount from toll collected should be used for this purpose with proper planning. Road margins for future expansion also needs to be considered. The lighting on highways is also important in certain areas for safety preferably from renewable source. We have several types of new generation vehicles lined up for better economy & less pollution. What comes to my mind earlier the cars had rear differential. Now the modern cars are front wheel drive combined with differential. The rear tyres are only idlers with breaking Can this be used for partial energy generation for air-conditioning & lights.Which otherwise would have contd---

Good initiative,it was long pending demand, two things can easily be restored one is arrangements on primary or first stage treatment of the vehicle owners and the driver during accident and second is facilities in repairing for the damaged or immovable vehicles on the cross roads along with toilet and automated trailer machines and phone calls facilities This is my humble request to the highway autority to implant as many as medicinal plant in the either side of the roads and erection of water bodies at the interval of 25 kilometres across the country. There are a few areas at the brinks of highways in M.P., Chhattisgarh,Maharastra,Andhra Pradesh and in Odisha or even in Jharkhand where sanctuary can be developed, further more what we ignore and often been caused fatal nature of injuries, when we don't check the credentials of the person on wheel,a thorough checkup of papers as well as state of mind, physique especially eyes are essential.
