National Highway Authority of India currently is planning to build a citizen facing interface which can cater to all highway related needs of NH commuters. NHAI already has an Android mobile application called Sukhaad Yatra (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rsawh.nhia&hl=en_IN&gl=US) which needs to be upgraded and advanced further.

Citizens are invited to share their ideas on how the Sukhad Yatra app can be improved with additional features/ integrations to better service the needs of citizens. The end outcome is to improve the experience of NH commuters and build a robust medium of 2-way communication.

The tool will not be limited to but can cover the following areas:
● Informing users of construction and maintenance activities
● Allowing users to register complaints pertaining to the condition of the highway or highway activities such as toll (for eg. If wait times for a toll gate are too long or if FasTag is not working at a gate)
● Allow users to rate highways on various characteristics of the highway around their experience as a rider (on both negative and positive characteristics of experience, for example whether the NH offers a scenic route or view)
● Allow user to access emergency and first response services on the highway
● Allow users to access information on wayside amenities, petrol pumps, EV stations etc. Information about location of facilities along the route can be searched on Google Maps but this is hard to access for non smartphone users.
● Allow users to report traffic congestion, accidents, debris, toll-relates issues, request EV charging points etc to local command centres (Eg. Waze)
● The interface should be able to cater to user-needs of commuters with and without smartphones
● The interface should have a strong focus on UX, intuitive and centred around the day-to-day needs and experience of highway users.

The interface can also operate as a platform through which multiple existing private and public applications can link to such as NH’s toll free number, toll management system etc or travel related apps (MapMyIndia, Google Maps etc) which already have a high user-base. The platform should leverage strengths of existing IT applications and not reinvent where necessary.

The design should cater to all kinds of NH users such as:
● Commercial (trucking etc) who may or may not have a smartphone and a user design which caters to their needs
● Personal long-distance commuter which may not be as frequent but may have access to smartphones
● Local residents who live around the highways and use it more frequently than private long distance commuters

Submissions to this can be in the form of app mock-ups/ prototypes, presentations, concept notes on platform and other interfaces, list of desired features by commuters etc.

Tha last date of submission of ideas is 15th June 2022.

🙏Our honorable prime minister Narendra Modi ji We manufactures solar park in all states on lands, who's cost is so much and so many obligations on that. Instead of land we manufacture solar park on the top of godowns in FCI, CWC and SWC then the solar park cost will be redused and we install so many solar park like that. Major investment of solar electricity is in storage. If we use same solar park in big industry where so many sheds are made then electricity made and consumed on daily basis in factory. So the storage cost will be about to be nil. Major consumption of electricity is in factory. If we use that method then we can make all factories almost pollution free because so many factory uses diesel etc fules which omit so many pollution. It request you to discuss this idea with your IAS and if agree then make it possible for our country which make revolution in the field of solar energy.

Everything is ok but some people don't have basic civic sense 😞 They litter on the roads by throwing garbage and spitting as well. This should definitely change. If you go other countries and compare our roads with, it's seems like look out the perfect roads of that country, wow! it is also possible in our country also, if people know the importance of cleanliness. Ridding on the neat and clean roads can help in minimizing road accidents.

Despite having such a vast network of highways and millions of vehicle using highways, there is no concept of accident response vehicles. In case of any accident or vehicle breakdowns, it takes hours to get any assistance. By that time already huge jam is created. Removal time of breakdown vehicles or accidental vehicles shall be reduced.

Making App is one thing. Making use of App is absolutely different task. You may use the app but ultimately there is some human to take action on any matter. How sincere is the fellow at the other end would decide the degree of Sukhad in your journey. Considering the past experience and ground realities on Highways, Yaatras were never Sukad

Details about the Contractors and the data about the collection made in that Toll Road, how much amount is spent by the Contractor should be displayed in the App. A complaint facility to take photos and attach it through the App will be very helpful. So that the users can take a snap and attach instantly and send it through the App. Sometimes a big & heated argument occurs between the Toll Booth staffs and the drivers on Fast Tag. There should be a 24/7 redressal team to escalate the matter and solve the problem. Training should be given to these Toll Booth staffs on handling such issues and responding politely. Beggars menace and road side sellers is there in all Toll Booths. Illegal beggars using kids should be arrested by the Police Patrolling team. It's a biggest network and an awareness among public to stop encouraging begging will stop illegal child trafficking and kidnapping. Any beggar begging neat Toll Booth with kids should be cleared by the Police Patrolling team.

App should have a travel history. Sometimes by mistake SMS alert is sent for wrong debit and the amount is debited in Fast Tag. So whenever a car passes a Toll a travel history should be updated in the App. This will help the user if the vehicle is stolen or hijacked. It will help the Police to track the vehicle and nab the culprits. A option to report wrong debits and if proved with 24 hours the amount should be credited back to Fast Tag account. There is no shade throughout the NHAI. It's really difficult to travel in hot sun. So NHAI should consider planting trees on both sides of the roads by removing encroachments. A portion of the amount collected from the Toll fee should be utilised for growing trees and develope facilities like mini hospital with medical shop to use during any emergency. A refreshment stall selling quality Milk Coffee Snacks and cool drinks at a reasonable price should be there. This will prevent looting of money by road side hotels and restaurants.

How can Yatra become Sukhad with an App? Driving on highways is a compulsion rather fun. I have to go to Bawal and Rohtak from Delhi quite frequently. Now let me share my experience on both highways. 1) Going to Bawal and Back: If there is no rains, I cross Gurgaon before 9AM and reach Kherki Daula toll plaza. But if it rains, drive at own risk also in any case time is no money. Road conditions beyond toll gate is absolutely poor till Bawal. Side roads are roads to hell. Crossing Bilaspur and U turn is a big project. If I am luky, will not find jam at Bhiwadi cut at Kapriwas and at Hero cut. Then testing time comes at Masani Barrage. Situation somewhat is good thereafter. Road is repaired unevenly. Yatra can not be called Sukhad. 2) Going to Rohtak and back: Is an impossible task till Mundka even on good non rainy days. Then crossing Bahadurgarh till Brig Hoshiar Singh metro station is nightmare. Can any App make this Yatra Sukhad?
