With a dramatic growth in elementary education enrolments and improvements in retention and transition rates in recent years, particularly amongst the more disadvantaged groups, there is an increasing pressure on the secondary schools to admit more students. With the enforcement of RTE Act and further improvement in retention and transition rates, demand for secondary schooling will grow rapidly in the coming years. The objective of this discussion group is to assess to what extent we have made quality education available, accessible and affordable to the target population in the age group of 14–18 years. How we can increase access to post elementary education across the country in a manner so as to ensure no child is denied the opportunity of completing his/her school education. In particular, how can we address the geographical and social disparities in secondary education?

We may have school buildings but there is lack of good teachers. The profession of teacher is the last choice. Out of the teachers who are good prefer their own coaching/tuition rather than serving in schools or they employ themselves as side activity. We have to ask why this is happening?-1) Value base learning to be revived 2)Respect for the teaching profession to be revived through interaction of the teacher with the student and his parents 3) The pay scale of the profession to be improved.

Our teaching systems to be changed it should be motivated the students. Learning lessons and formulas to be adopted and explain the situation and actual purpose in the life. So that only students can interact to learn the syllabus. It will develop innovative ideas to the students.

Our examination system not meet true education, current system makes the students just temporary memories forget maximum Syllabus after completing annual examination, so that we need to change the examination system. For example 10th standard students ready to answer 6th standard syllabus also questions to be prepared accordingly.

For better study make all classrooms in indian schools well equipped with projectors so that teachers will not have to waste their time in writing on board . they can simply show the ready made slides . we can save at least 25% time in classrooms and use that time for doubt solving etc.

Pl.Visit: http://letscareforeducation.blogspot.in/ This blog is the reminder to humanity that curiosity is the engine if education is the vehicle."Every child is a born artist, the problem is to remain artist as they grow up"Picasso correctly quoted.Einstein said not to judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree.We just can't stand here and watch everything these great people stood for destroyed by our schooling system. Are you with me on the journey to remind the world what true education is?

Headmasters must keep a tab on students who become irregular. He should talk to their parents and help them to attend classes. If parents selfishly deny them education, it should be reported to DM for action. Our goal should be 100% literacy in all states. Educated India is prosperous India.

To extend the outreach, we have to support the NGOs which impart education to children who have to work during the day for their family. Govt should identify those NGOs who really do the job and give them assistance like books and stationery, and refreshment. Dropout from schools have to be identified and re-admitted to open schools to make them employable in future.

It is high time to prepare a geographically inclusive syllabus for school children. For example, the history/geography/economy of northeastern india should feature in the syllabi in a more detailed manner. This will not only be a step towards integration, but also enhance the awareness and thus sensitivity of studnts of other regions.
