With a dramatic growth in elementary education enrolments and improvements in retention and transition rates in recent years, particularly amongst the more disadvantaged groups, there is an increasing pressure on the secondary schools to admit more students. With the enforcement of RTE Act and further improvement in retention and transition rates, demand for secondary schooling will grow rapidly in the coming years. The objective of this discussion group is to assess to what extent we have made quality education available, accessible and affordable to the target population in the age group of 14–18 years. How we can increase access to post elementary education across the country in a manner so as to ensure no child is denied the opportunity of completing his/her school education. In particular, how can we address the geographical and social disparities in secondary education?

Please put more focus on moral values. We should have real examples and stories from our history where children have shown great moral responsibilities towards society. This subject should be taken seriously by schools. Well mannered children will make a beautiful livable, crime-free society for all.

I am a class 12th student. Please remove reservation as far as possible.I am one of the victims.People who don't deserve are getting seats in colleges. What can be the better reason for student migration, student suicide? all non-reserved categories are not rich.We could not perceive our dreams..

There are many issues about quality of education. We are compromising with the quality. It is not possible with opening school in every village because we will never get good teacher for this, so i think we have to make a inter college in every 10 or 15 km radius area and we need to arrange some kind of transport for student in every village or two three villages. i give this suggestion because management is very very important for regular and proper education

The profession of the teacher should be made as respectable as in our ancient times. The new policy should take initiatives so that the intelligent youth is attracted to the profession. One big reform is higher and respectable salary. Now the question arises from where the additional resources will come. There should be two/three slabs of the school fee based on the parents income. The additional burden should be born by the higher income groups.
