With a dramatic growth in elementary education enrolments and improvements in retention and transition rates in recent years, particularly amongst the more disadvantaged groups, there is an increasing pressure on the secondary schools to admit more students. With the enforcement of RTE Act and further improvement in retention and transition rates, demand for secondary schooling will grow rapidly in the coming years. The objective of this discussion group is to assess to what extent we have made quality education available, accessible and affordable to the target population in the age group of 14–18 years. How we can increase access to post elementary education across the country in a manner so as to ensure no child is denied the opportunity of completing his/her school education. In particular, how can we address the geographical and social disparities in secondary education?

In this world of technology facts are useless, free and inovative thinking must be promoted by introducing students to new researchs and ideas, question paper should include questions requiring creativity and inovation not only facts. MCQs are no good for testing creativity and innovation which is the building block of a nation.

I am a teacher teaching Physics in Classes IX to XII. The problem with the present system is that none of the students want to become a teacher. The joy of teaching and learning lacking in the system. Everybody is after shortcuts for marks & entrance exam coaching. Real learning is not taking place. The students should be allowed to enroll for the entrance exams after they pass their qualifying exams with required percentage of marks. This will reduce the stress on students.

To achieve the educational objects their should be uniformity in education till standard 12 every student should learn all the subjects till the 12 std similarly after 12 std then their should be dispersement. As our country known for agriculture instead of fighting over languages we should make agricultural subject compulsory up to 12 std which will lead to create awarness regarding the myth and reality about agriculture. we can also start some additional short course viz. Chocholate, shoe maki
