Dadra & Nagar Haveli is well connected by road and Rail with rest of the country. The NH-8 provides the major road connectivity to the study area. With rapid Urbanization and industrial growth in Dadra & Nagar Haveli UT, the population and vehicles have increased rapidly in the recent past years. This resulted in traffic congestion in the urban areas. UT Administration has frequently initiated steps for betterment of heavy vehicular traffic plying in this UT and having appreciated the existing problems and constraints felt that there is a strong need for improvement of Infrastructure in Road Sector in a planned manner to meet the growing demand.

The Report provides information about the regulatory and economic context in which the Territory’s heavy vehicle industrial traffic operates. The Taskforce has used the information gathered to assess potential risks and identify opportunities to improve road safety outcomes for all road users in UT of Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

The term traffic safety refers to the risk of a person being killed or seriously injured while using the traffic network as a pedestrian, cyclist or user of public or private transport. The importance of traffic safety is obvious; traffic accounts for many deaths and injuries. These may include Passenger restraints such as seat belts often in conjunction with and airbags Crash avoidance equipment such as lights and reflectors Driver assistance systems such as Electronic Stability Control Crash survivability design including fire-retardant interior materials, standards for fuel system integrity, and the use of safety glass moderation detectors.

According to me the main problem of heavy vehicular traffic in general is unplanned road network. The roads are not engineered for seamless traffic flow. The vehicle needs turns or going straight would use the same lane on either left or right. Please find attached detail of how road engineering is done in west. The traffic flows at speed of 55-60 miles/h which is 88 - 96 Km/h. I am in no way advocating high speed traffic but advocating need for planned road infrastructure.

I think the growth of heavy vehicular ca be reduce by following factors 1.by using public transport by goverment employe & student 2.giving subsidy on electric vehicle & decresing subsidy on gasoline vehicle 3.building good infrasture like roads, parking area. 4.introducing small & cheap transport system and the main thing 5.giving more attenion towards cycling, so that people should cycles for atleast smaller distance 6.in heavy traffic area ban on personal vehicle

Development of buildings in the outskirts of the city rather than within the city will help prevent over-congestion as well as excessive traffic. Govt. can thus give incentives for development of newer accommodations on the outskirts of the city like allowing lower than market value on purchase of land, 20 % subsidy on purchase of vehicle under Rs. 5 lacs who have PRC (permanent resident certificate) showing addr. on the outskirts, etc.

On one hand govt is giving concession for auto industry, allowances for govt employee and on the other hand it is asking opinion for reducing traffic. Both are quite opposite policies.Instead they should promote cyclists by giving higher incentive as only take care of big. Issues like fuel conservation, global warming, clean environment etc.The govtis very well aware of the above facts.

govt start small buses in local area so that people can travel in that and the vehicle on road reduce and the vehicle run on solar power or on electricity so that govt no need to spend money on fuel.

Have Separate lane for people more than 2, use camera on road for people who are driving fast with changing lane very fast and fine them heavily, for short distance encourage to use bicycle or two wheeler, Get a bypass road for through traffic. Heavy fine for overload vehicles and hefty fines for those who does not follow traffic regulation.

1. In courage car pooling 2. Make rule that in peak hour all vehicle on road must run with full seating capacity. I mean a two wheeler must have driver +1 person, in car: driver +3 to 4 person depending upon capacity. Otherwise pay fine for depending upon vacant seats.
