Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is the National Olympic Committee of India and is recognized by the International Olympic Committee. IOA is, inter alia, responsible for the preparation and participation of Indian sportspersons and teams in the Olympic Games as well as in Regional events like Commonwealth and Asian Games. The other responsibilities undertaken by the IOA include deciding the organisation of National Gamesand promoting and developing the Olympic Movement.

National Sports Federations (NSFs) are responsible for promotion and development of specific sports disciplines. Conduct of National championships and participation of Indian sportspersons and teams of a specific sports discipline in World Championships, Asian Championships and Commonwealth Championships, among others, is responsibility of the concerned NSF.

IOA and NSFs are autonomous bodies registered under Societies Registration Act. Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has been insisting with IOA and NSFs to ensure transparency and good governance in their functioning and selection of sportspersons for participation in international tournaments.

The last date for submission of your comments is 7th June, 2015.

Money is the root of all evil. The associations and federations are run by people who are corrupt. Cash is the facilitator of this corruption. Eliminate cash (physical money) from the equation (i.e. switch to electronic currency) and the problems will disappear. If everybody in the country had a bank account, you could do this switch TODAY.

But, what about very much deserving students who were left behind for the great privileged reservation categories, what foundation should they consider. Respected PM Mr NARENDRA DAMODARDAS MODI SIR, do you have explanation or just a speech.

The biggest problem in sports today is unfair competition due to false age statements by sports persons and failure of state to assess correct age. Invariaby overage persons compete with talented younger counterparts winning ccompetitions wrongly. This needs to stop. At least for above 16 competitions one time biological age verification should be established with single unique national SPORTS ID for all sports persons should be given.

The Program for Education and Awareness on Anti Doping in Sports (PEADS)can be made more effective amongst the rural area and budding athletes at school level in India, through developing a testing kit for the testing of steroid and other prohibited substances and providing this kit to the sports persons on a very nominal cost.Because in the disguise of Food supplements and multivitamins etc. steroid and other prohibited substances are easily reaching to the budding athletes/sports persons.

For transparency in sports, the first thing to do..that appoint professional management officials in high post of concerned sports authority ,under whom the coaches, players will perform their duty...because sports need management, and good management will help to find hidden talents in any part of the country...and there should be also a advisory panel in different sports authority...which include the retired sportsperson.MANAGEMENT WILL HELP IN SELECTION OF BEST AMONG PLAYERS....

I think to ensure transparency and good governance in Indian Olympic Association and National Sports Federations the heads and decision makers should be retired sportsperson. They must be consulted. They know the needs. They know how they have struggled. And how far we need to go. A politician who has a different field and sits on a chair to command sports field can't take worthy decisions. Government must look into this.

Sports Federations be run by capable administrators and Coaches be Indians for bringing athletes to the National level. Once athletes attends International Standards, move them to IOA Supervision jointly funded by Min of Sports Mental coaching be the first training athletes must be trained. Soports be the empowering tool for the Tribal and less privileged society. Physical fitness and mental toughness both key to success All intl athletes be employed with central govt bases on achievement.
