Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is the National Olympic Committee of India and is recognized by the International Olympic Committee. IOA is, inter alia, responsible for the preparation and participation of Indian sportspersons and teams in the Olympic Games as well as in Regional events like Commonwealth and Asian Games. The other responsibilities undertaken by the IOA include deciding the organisation of National Gamesand promoting and developing the Olympic Movement.

National Sports Federations (NSFs) are responsible for promotion and development of specific sports disciplines. Conduct of National championships and participation of Indian sportspersons and teams of a specific sports discipline in World Championships, Asian Championships and Commonwealth Championships, among others, is responsibility of the concerned NSF.

IOA and NSFs are autonomous bodies registered under Societies Registration Act. Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has been insisting with IOA and NSFs to ensure transparency and good governance in their functioning and selection of sportspersons for participation in international tournaments.

The last date for submission of your comments is 7th June, 2015.

1.We need to understand why all the politicians are getting the role as a second home in the sports bodies. A good player in a particular sport should be elected to manage that body. I don't understand why Rajeev Shukla, Arun jaitly, Narendra Modi, Sharad Pawar should be state cricket association heads. Why not Kapil Dev, Manider Singh, Saurav Ganguly ? 2.There should be a limit on service.. like no body should service for than two terms in a sports body.

Whole process of every appointment for major positions like president, board members, selection committee, etc., and the qualification of candidates must be made available online. Each and every step involved in selection (members & players for major tournaments) and justification for the selection also needs to be published for all.

First and most important thing that we should do is to appoint ex-sportsperson (who has proved himself in their respective sports) at every important decision making position. Put a strict standard operating procedure for everything be it procurement, recruitment, appointment. Make it mandatory for everything to have a timeline which should be strictly adhered to. Every individual be it sportsperson or office bearer should be given point for their every achievement to grade their performance.

Catch and groom the talented when they are young.. Tough for a vast country like India... Grooming from grass root is important... Mechanism to find and pouch the talent at the young age is all the more important.. For which people shouldn't be indoors formulating or selecting people... should go to the ground... The Ex players who are good at their field should be the one to head the department (should be unbiased )

To ensure good governance, only sports persons of outstanding merit at international level with clean back ground have to be selected. The selectors must be above petty and selfish personal gain and nepotism. Then only can we pave in the way for a great sporty India, a shining India. Football should be given priority by appointing foreign coaches so that India can qualify for World cup.
