India is the World’s second largest producer of Fruits & Vegetables. However, the processing of perishable products in our country is very low, in comparison to the developed countries or developing countries like China, Brazil, Malaysia, Vietnam, etc. One of the main constraints in the growth of processing of fruits & vegetables in the country is non-availability of modern and suitable infrastructure with efficient supply Chain. Consequently, there is very high level of wastage of the fruits & vegetables in the country resulting in the farmer not getting adequate remuneration for his yield. A study conducted by Central Institute of Post Harvesting Engineering Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana, an ICAR institute, reveals that wastage in various agricultural crops in the country range from 6-18% and the highest loss has been shown in fruits and vegetables.

Ministry of Food processing Industries invites views/ suggestions for reduction of these losses.

Last date for sending your suggestions is 1st February 2015.

cold storage ya to government ko kholna chhaiye ya jo is field me kam karna chhate h unko subsidy easly dena chahiye unko bank k chakkar me paresan nahi karna chhaiye

Honourable PM is going to Australia. We should start nuclear power by using the technology of this country in the larger interest and for peaceful purposes.

There should be a provision that loss due lack of marketing and storage of perishable vegetables or fruits should be recovered from government. Government should either market the output or pay for the losses due to damage in field.

All such processing industries should be encouraged in PPP mode. Expolitation of farmers should become a punishable offence.Government should make good the loss of perishable items incase of loss due to low demand. Insurance cover must be their at support price level.

Marketing of perishable should be done in a fair manner.Producers / farmers should be paid good price and should not compelled to sale at through away prices as we see now.Traders are cunning enough to buy at throwaway prices and sale at higher prices and make huge profit.This is exploitation at both end, farmers and consumers.

Food processing industries needs to be strengthened at base level.Perishable fruits and vegetables should be processed at source and preserved for sale afterwords.

The fruits and vegetables need to be stored from the site of production govt can have procuring and processing agencies luke we have for collection of milk and its distribution the rest of thesethat is left over can be made into other usable consumables like we do for m koi lk and m oo lk products it is a shame if fruits as nd vegetables are wasted when there are people who go with out them the food corporation of India should be reactivated and the salary should be incentive based fir better re

To construct cold storage small sizes near to farms run by solar & supply electricity. For transport cold storage vehicles are arranged . To used radiation technology we can reduced losses.These all are small sized & managed by near villagers co-operative society. We trained some local villagers youths to operate them. We can both solve problems employment & losses.

products should be direct purchase from farmers. it will not only eliminate middlemen but also reduce post harvest losses effectively. 2. supply market chain honi chaiye. 3.expansion of cold storage where possible with support of bank finance

sir, first remove the middle peoples between the farmers and customers and then motivate the formers for growing good quality of veg and fruits and make a specified place for selling and purchasing in very town, every city according to the population, then the quality and quantity increases and also reduced post - harvest losses
