India is the World’s second largest producer of Fruits & Vegetables. However, the processing of perishable products in our country is very low, in comparison to the developed countries or developing countries like China, Brazil, Malaysia, Vietnam, etc. One of the main constraints in the growth of processing of fruits & vegetables in the country is non-availability of modern and suitable infrastructure with efficient supply Chain. Consequently, there is very high level of wastage of the fruits & vegetables in the country resulting in the farmer not getting adequate remuneration for his yield. A study conducted by Central Institute of Post Harvesting Engineering Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana, an ICAR institute, reveals that wastage in various agricultural crops in the country range from 6-18% and the highest loss has been shown in fruits and vegetables.

Ministry of Food processing Industries invites views/ suggestions for reduction of these losses.

Last date for sending your suggestions is 1st February 2015.

It's shocking to know dat nearly 35-40 % of our horticulture produce is being wasted after harvesting. We can reduce dis by 1.constructing warehouses & storage go downs 2.Laying roads& transportation facilities. 3 Processing of produce these are the important steps that could reduce the wastage to maximum extent. By reducing the wastage we can ensure addition of some 2000 - 3000 crore rupees to our treasury. And this reduction also ensures the availability of quality products at low prices

a poor person has a shop in a remote place on rural road which sells namkeen packets, water pouches, tobacco and gutka pouches. his customers are travellers, people working in nearby areas and farm workers. Being a concerned person, Even if he collects the empty pouches/packets of things eaten there only, he does not have any place to dispose them in a proper manner. How to work this out????

The farmers should have daily access to such Cold Stores for storing their Fruits and Vegetable products after catering to the Market requirements on daily basis. Thereafter the surplus product should be transferred to the nearest Cold storages/markets having short supply of such harvest. The sale proceeds should immediately be disbursed to the Farmers as soon as the same is sold.

The Grain Stores should be constructed or Overhauled to make full proof against Cyclone,Earth Quake,Flood and other natural calamities. Not only it should act as only storage of Grains,Cereals and other edibles but also the stored grains should be processed for production of fine seeds for the subsequent cropping season.

Being inheriting a Farmer's family I would strongly prefer Grain Store, which were known as " "Grain Golas" in Odisha,during post Independence years. The product harvested should be stored in GP levels,Block Levels and District Levels in such Grain Stores having cold storing facilities.This will not only help Post harvest loss but also minimise the transportation cost from FCI Godowns. These Grain stores should be connected and interface with FCI in the region to synchronise storage Data.

Sir. . We need a lot of change in the attitude of central and state governments . . In the rural villages . There is a need to introduce biometric and alchohol detector . People are suffering a lot with these officers .

Marital Laws must me made common for both genders immediately since they are at present only favorable to females most of whom misuse them for harassing their husbands and in-laws for gaining unlawful monetary benefits resulting in lot of young men committing suicide. The Government as well as the Supreme Court are fully aware of this fact and still the Government has not yet come up quickly to amend the marital Laws to save innocent boys and their old age parents and also their family members.
