A huge amount of Govt. money is spent on subsidy of petroleum products. The Govt. had to spend Rs. 1,39,869 crore on account of subsidy on petroleum products in the year 2013-14. As, the indigenous availability of crude Oil and LPG is limited, these are imported in huge quantities to fulfill the demand of the country.  As Govt. provides domestic LPG and PDS Kerosene on subsidised price, this results in huge subsidy burden on Govt. Due to presence of dual pricing(subsidized and non-subsidized) in LPG and SKO, there is a diversion of subsidized LPG and Kerosene into commercial usage. Although Govt. has taken several initiatives to reduce this diversion of subsidized LPG and PDS Kerosene, public participation is solicited to suggest ways for reducing diversion in LPG and PDS Kerosene.

You are invited to suggest ideas to reduce diversion and the subsidy burden on account of LPG and Kerosene.

Persons who pay crores for flats should be asked to run the establishment on solar power as they can afford to have recourse to the same. Instead of spending on unnecessary luxuries, they should concentrate on utilising solar power.

Make it mandatory for high rise buildings in cities to have solar panels to generate electricity and run the electric induction equipments in kitchen.

One of the ways to reduce dependence on LPG in urban section of society is to encourage use of alternative energy for cooking. Use of Electric cooking both Radiant and induction is a time tested method in the western world. Over last 5 years, it is also proven that most of the Indian cuisine is also suitable to be cooked on Induction. Induction cooking is far more efficient way of cooking , as well as it being less polluting in the Kitchen. thereby the kitchens are cooler.

1.Govt may consider to make it mandatory for giving the subsidized goods after going through its eligibility criteria( i do not know about present scenario) like person has to show his BPL Card/ AADHAR card to get the subsidized product, and real time entry should be made over it so that the same may be ascertained who has taken what has taken, so chances of going to illegal mkt will be reduced, CGHS medicines are being provided in this manner and real time sms being received by the beneficiary

Why not have retail LPG outlets? One can sell these cylinders at nomral market rates by using UIDAI as the authentication mechanism. It would improve LPG revenues, and would also be convenient for lakhs of students and working professionals who do not have a gas connection. Currently these people (like me) have to buy a gas cylinder in black and have to pay 1200, which not even in part reaches the government. This could be a game changer specially in metros.

Government is giving subsidies on 9 cylinders. First step limit subsidy say by 400 per cylinder and rest market driven Second step, Government is giving subsidy on 9 cylinders Say 9 * 400 = Rs 3,600. Government can change allocation of subsidy after studying usage for next 6 months, may be 3,600 / 12 = Rs 300. It will not impact poor persons as subsidy remain same and will reduce black marketing as subsidy got reduced per cylinder.

Provide packaged specially designed bottled Kerosene which will fit directly to the device like stove or lamp rather than handling loose kerosene.These refill modules can be reused . New issue of module shall be subjected to return of the old module.

Use piped domestic gas supply wherever possible to maximum extent for LPG. Give tax rebates for minimum . and consistent number of cylinder bookings . Provide tax rebates or cash benefits to medium sized restaurant users on commercial cylinders cylinders for minimum number of cylinder usage as per his income or tax paying capacity i,e, his volume of business. An estimate of income depending upon the type of city, location, period etc can be done.Encourage solar cookers for commercial users.
