Respected PM, Finance Minister desired to reduce the subsidy burden for govt. Gas subsidy may not be given to Income Tax payers for improving economy.

I think Government should withdraw subsidy for the people paying more than 20000/- income tax, while doing so Government should increase the income tax slap to 5 lakhs

Good thinking. But it should start from the Government Empolyees. Slowly to the enterperners and then to the salaried people.

Govt. Planning to end subsidy for rich or earning 5 lacs and above person is nt a good idea....govt should reduce subsidy by 10 to 20 rupees per month...and like this approx. 3 years subsidy wll end up...

good govt looking to reduce subsidies but if govt just stop giving freebies to govt&PSU employees,loads of money can b saved. that precious money can be used in various developmental work. just look at freebies schemes: all free air travel to indian airlines&rail employees,LTC(wonder Y govt has to pay for holidaying of babus despite paid leaves) numerous reimbursement on education,medical,travel,etc. on top of it various social security schemes,pensions etc. is all this not money diversion? now just compare same monthly income people of govt employee and self employed? and this same income self employee wud b tortured by numerous taxes and obsolete laws of govt. he is paying taxes to fund govt employee LTC? is this fair? govt shud stop making ppl feel that we still hv no freedom, invaders & their govt used to heavily tax ppl and enjoy on their money, govt need to introspect and reconsider its ways of working for itself and govt/PSU employees !!!

For rural areas especially in arid and sunny regions, subsidy should be given only during monsoon months. For the rest of the year they should be encouraged to move to solar cookers as Mr. Chandrakant Patel had suggested. I wonder if a convection oven powered by a photovoltaic cell and battery can be made smart looking to entice the city suburban population too...?

Kerosene and lpg subsidy cannot be removed when 30% of the country lives below the poverty line, what can be done is targeted subsidy allocation. Declaration of select cities like Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad as subsidy free zones may help. Poverty levels of these cities should be tracked and when it grows to a certain percentage, they can be removed from the list. There should be incentives like smart city development grants going only to these cities.
