A huge amount of Govt. money is spent on subsidy of petroleum products. The Govt. had to spend Rs. 1,39,869 crore on account of subsidy on petroleum products in the year 2013-14. As, the indigenous availability of crude Oil and LPG is limited, these are imported in huge quantities to fulfill the demand of the country.  As Govt. provides domestic LPG and PDS Kerosene on subsidised price, this results in huge subsidy burden on Govt. Due to presence of dual pricing(subsidized and non-subsidized) in LPG and SKO, there is a diversion of subsidized LPG and Kerosene into commercial usage. Although Govt. has taken several initiatives to reduce this diversion of subsidized LPG and PDS Kerosene, public participation is solicited to suggest ways for reducing diversion in LPG and PDS Kerosene.

You are invited to suggest ideas to reduce diversion and the subsidy burden on account of LPG and Kerosene.

public awareness may only cause to reduce diversion in not only LPG and Kerosene even other products also and we have to reduce Administrations involvement in currupt practice.

The Government must enhance the punishment to very greater extent like confiscating the vehicle that use mixture of kerosene in Diesel. and use of unauthorized LPG cylinders for the vehicle. The best way to track such vehicle is that the government announce a price reward of Rs:5000/- to who ever person who will give leads of such vehicles. Friends and Relatives will be the first informers of such vehicles and then local mechanical. This will generate the fear factor among the users.

We do not have reliable statistics as to number of cylinders sold, by which company, in which areas, covering how much of population, then the number of population left to be covered, expected rise in number of cylinders. Rate of cylinders production to cover the country, possiblity of using piped gas at most places, average life of cylinders, cost of transportation of cylinders, cost of manufacture. Cost of refilling plant etc..... Please provide available statistics, we will provide solutions.

Diversion is done primarily due to difference in market rate and subsidized rates, govt. has taken a good step in direct transfer of cash subsidy to bank accounts. It will reduce diversion. To eliminate it completely, govt. should withdraw itself from distribution activity, private competing corporates will help in eliminating diversion.

As we all know that government has reduced petrol and diesel prices but when we take a look at the current crude oil prices in international market, I think a bit more is required to be done on our Government's part.

Distribution of petroleum products are the most important thing. India import majority of its LPG gas from other countries. Generally kerosene is used in small towns & villages. To reduce the diversion, public awareness is must. We have seen many vehicles running in LPG/Kerosene. They must stop ✋ the use in vehicle as a fuel via public awareness. Its also reduce the emission of green house gases.
