In December 2014 the United Nations declared 21st June as ‘International Day of Yoga’ after 177 nations across all continents of the world co-sponsored a resolution seeking the same.

When the resolution was adopted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense joy on this and said that Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had mooted such an idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.

You are requested to provide inputs on the following aspects relating to the marking of the first ever ‘International Day of Yoga’.

(1) How can the ‘International Day of Yoga’ be celebrated at the UN forum?

(2) Suggest creative ways in which the ‘International Day of Yoga’ can be celebrated at the world stage.

(3) What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India?

Best inputs and suggestions would be sent to the Prime Minister himself and would also be utilized.

What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India? ------- Yoga can be a neutral platform to encourage Hindu Muslim unity- How about this? Temples and Masjids should allow Yoga classes to be held in their premises. IMAGINE the Jama masjid in Delhi- Where Hindus and Muslims doing Yoga together. I think- on 21st June- even a single Masjid in India offers space to conduct a Yoga evangelisation programme.... Insha Allah.

What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India? ------- These days, people spent more time in office than at home. The Govt should announce a mandatory measure to give people a chance to do Yoga at their commercial establishment. Every commercial building should allocate space for a Yoga room and appoint a Yoga teacher... Yaar log smoke break ke badle thoda Yoga kar lenge to productivity bhi badh jayegi.

Ans to Q.3- What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India? ------- 1 Erect a big statue of Maharishi Patanjali, the author of Yoga sutras 2 Yoga can be best digested by learning Sanskrit. So, Sanskrit classes should be organised. This will all begin from June 21st and will continue thereafter. This will serve twin objectives- a) learn Yoga in its purest form and b) learn Sanskrit

Modi ji, but for your daily yoga practitioner and your charismatic leadership qualities, YOGA has got the recognition as the International Day of Yoga on June 21st. Now, globally all are becoming aware about the major health benefits of Yoga in terms of health, mental happiness and life longevity.. Therefore, first the Indian Government should include Yoga as a compulsory period of learning and practicing YOGA. Also, YOGA SCHOOLS should be opened in major cities and towns of India and globally.

On "International Day of Yoga" in all government offices and all schools of India (Private or Public) allocate 1 hour for compulsory yoga in morning to spread awareness. Specially kids will learn and that is our future too.
