In December 2014 the United Nations declared 21st June as ‘International Day of Yoga’ after 177 nations across all continents of the world co-sponsored a resolution seeking the same.

When the resolution was adopted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense joy on this and said that Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had mooted such an idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.

You are requested to provide inputs on the following aspects relating to the marking of the first ever ‘International Day of Yoga’.

(1) How can the ‘International Day of Yoga’ be celebrated at the UN forum?

(2) Suggest creative ways in which the ‘International Day of Yoga’ can be celebrated at the world stage.

(3) What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India?

Best inputs and suggestions would be sent to the Prime Minister himself and would also be utilized.

I have sought an information from the West Bengal Information Commission which has already been accepted and registered by them in the year 2012 (Appeal; No. 4607 of 2012) and vide its letter no. 3277(2)-WBIC/RTI/1010/12 dtd. 22.08.2012. To my utter surprise, I regreat to say that inspite of my several letters written to the WBSIC to let me know about the status of my appeal under RTI 2005, the WBSIC has not replied till date.

since yoga was born in India so yoga should be listed in national games list as main games, and national and international players of yoga must get benefit in govt. jobs as bonus marks like athletics player, so people will start it doing and parents and children will see it as health + career, so people will start yoga own their own, and show their interest not only on 21 june but also through out the year. jai hind jai bharat

Many schools may not have enough space to teach YOGA. But they can teach PRANAYAMA definitely. Schools which have enough space should be asked to introduce YOGA mandatory. No new schools should be given permission to build, operate and transfer unless they teach YOGA and PRANAYAMA. Both these shall have a direct impact on the students and in turn to the country. Since, I have been practicing these even at the gae of 67 yrs. so this opinion.
