In December 2014 the United Nations declared 21st June as ‘International Day of Yoga’ after 177 nations across all continents of the world co-sponsored a resolution seeking the same.

When the resolution was adopted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense joy on this and said that Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had mooted such an idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.

You are requested to provide inputs on the following aspects relating to the marking of the first ever ‘International Day of Yoga’.

(1) How can the ‘International Day of Yoga’ be celebrated at the UN forum?

(2) Suggest creative ways in which the ‘International Day of Yoga’ can be celebrated at the world stage.

(3) What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India?

Best inputs and suggestions would be sent to the Prime Minister himself and would also be utilized.

Yoga to be included as one of the subject from the 1st standard to college level. Create awareness to include Yoga as a lifestyle. Yoga schools to be stated to teach original yoga rather than power yoga etc etc.,, The after effects of these Gym Yoga will not bring the benefits which are expected from original yoga. Yoga is becoming a big business and not reachable to common man, this need to be addressed.

It is highly unfortunate that while taxing, Yoga is clubbed with gym and treated as an amusement, entertainment or recreation activity. Have we forgotten that the practice of Yoga is a spiritual activity and not an entertainment activity? Yoga is not just an exercise regime, it is a spiritual healing process, Yoga is not a luxury but it is a conviction of a healthy body & mind. Indian Government should remove the service tax on yoga classes

'Yoga' means union i.e. union with soul/Still Prana with kinetic Prana. This is possible by Gita referred 'yogakarma sukaushalam' (action of oblation of Prana air into apana air and vice-versa) which is 'gyan bigyan sahitam'. By upholding Gita referred soul-science/knowledge of yogasadhana / Kriyayoga at UN Forum, love, peace, solidarity, unity can be brought back across the globe. This yogakarma practised by all sages/munis/rishis of Bharata- the only solution in today's discordant world.

I come across different forms of Yoga from different sources. I am not trying to be a critic here, but the point is it has to converge somewhere, at least for the sake of understanding of the common man. I therefore feel the first thing to do should be to launch standard government recognized material available at a single portal for the world to learn and benefit from. I believe this should be the first step to not dilute it and make it a global phenomenon! Congrats to all fellow Indians!

yoga(meditation) should be necessary in all schools and colleges. sabhi dharmo me meditation ke bare me btaya gya hai jo log meditation ka virodh karein unko unke dharm me likhi hui baatein btaiye fir koi bhi virodh nahi karega jaise school me daily pray hoti h aise hi daily 10-15 minute ka meditation sikhane ke liye ek period jarur ho agar aisa ho gya to agle 10 saal baad koi chori, hatyein, rape nahi honge sab kuch automatic khatam ho jayega kyonki sabhi mind se bhi healthy ho jayenge.

Dear Sir, If people will know the benefits of Yoga (AS I EXPERIENCED) then surely they will adopt in their daily life. My suggestion is that, you provide support to NGO/private/government organization to spread the knowledge about yoga like: 1. What is YOGA? 2. What are the benefits? 3. How to DO? By this we can strengthen not our nation but whole human society in the world.
