In December 2014 the United Nations declared 21st June as ‘International Day of Yoga’ after 177 nations across all continents of the world co-sponsored a resolution seeking the same.

When the resolution was adopted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense joy on this and said that Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had mooted such an idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.

You are requested to provide inputs on the following aspects relating to the marking of the first ever ‘International Day of Yoga’.

(1) How can the ‘International Day of Yoga’ be celebrated at the UN forum?

(2) Suggest creative ways in which the ‘International Day of Yoga’ can be celebrated at the world stage.

(3) What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India?

Best inputs and suggestions would be sent to the Prime Minister himself and would also be utilized.

Many of my Muslim brothers think that yoga is a Hindu term and it is prohibited for Muslims. As I know yoga is not a religion. It is a path to better mental, physical & emotional health. Namaz is also a combination of Asanas & meditation. Namaz is a religious duty of a Muslim. Yoga is not a substitute of Namaz. There is some problem for Muslims to do Yoga practices, like.chanting mantras...imagination of idols or God other than Allah. So Celebrate the International Yoga Day in a secular way .

Its a great achievement ! The government must also make efforts to make UN declare 2nd October as international non violence day. This would be greatest tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

I am Jitendra, My suggestion is that this festival should not be limited in country itself but we must ensure all the Indian community across the world participate in this. I have seen PM's program on Teacher's day where he was connected with many cities of India at a time. Cant we manage such event where Indian communities in different part of the world present Indian "YOGA" forms on different stages at same time. This would reflect the strong united India across the world. Thanks

We have to do grand celebration and organizing of this event all over the country. And for this we have to use Holographic technology to show the pictures of PM program all over the country. Live broadcasting and follow the same instructions everywhere. It will be very powerful and strong for whole world.
