The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
a. Waste management and zero waste systems
b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

How to participate?
1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

A zero waste festival involves using Pattal plates made from Sal leaves, clay cups called Kulhars, and bamboo utensils instead of plastic. Food waste should be managed by setting up composting systems and donating extra prepared food to charities. Decorations and lighting should rely on natural materials like fresh flowers, leaves, and coconut fronds, complemented by clay oil lamps. For awareness, can have clear waste segregation stations and run educational programs that show videos on waste separation and host workshops on creating natural products. I think these are helps a lot. thank you

Good morning sir, We can integrate Google maps with Indian railway and we can inform the passengers their coach position more accurately. Because now railway is telling us how many coaches after the engine..but we do not know where the engine would be? if railway introduce this system in rail one app it can even tell which platform and the exact coach position..Google maps will guide us as to reach correct coach...Many innovations railway has done..this would be a greater one.. Thanks and regards D VINAYAGA MOORTHY

Sujhav: Shivratri par shaam 6 baje bazaar band karayein taaki sabhi bhakt dhande se mukt hokar raat bhar jaagran, tapasya aur bhajan kar sakein. Kyunki is din sabka upvas hota hai, khane-peene ka kachra vaise hi nahi hoga. Shaam ko bazaar Mangal hone se prashasan ko mandir prangan mein Zero Waste niyam aur safai vyavastha ko 100% sateek tarike se maintain karne ke liye poora samay aur shanti milegi. Yeh prakriti aur adhyatm dono ke hit mein hai.
