The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
a. Waste management and zero waste systems
b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

How to participate?
1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

"Prasad-Pranaali": Zero Waste Mahashivratri Model, Baghpat* Every day during the Mahashivratri Mela, 5-7 tons of flower-leaf waste and plastic garbage are generated. The solution is a 3-step process. 1. Green Prasad Booth*: 4 colored dustbins at 8 entry points. Scan QR to get a "Green Bhakt" certificate. 2. Shiv-Arpan Unit*: Dry collected flowers to make "Mahadev Prasad Agarbatti". 1 ton of flowers = 4000 packets = ₹40,000 income. Make compost from leftover stalks. 3. Kulhad-Pattal Bank: Provide shops with free earthen kulhads and leaf pattals. "Bring 10 bottles, get Prasad" scheme. How it will be implemented: 20 NSS volunteers + 1 supervisor. Total cost ₹2 lakh, but after the fair, agarbatti sales will be ₹3-4 lakh every month. The project will become self-sustainable in the first year itself. Impact*: 100% flower waste eliminated, plastic reduced by 90%, temple income increases, and the "Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi" theme fully realized.

Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi: Green Karma Challenge To transform Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav, I propose the Green Karma Challenge linking environmental responsibility with spiritual participation. Every devotee can register through a QR code and earn Green Karma points for carrying reusable bottles, using refill stations, depositing waste in segregated bins, joining cleanliness drives, and avoiding single-use plastics. Points can be redeemed for eco-friendly souvenirs, certificates, or recognition as a “Green Pilgrim.” Flower offerings and biodegradable temple waste should be separately collected and converted into compost, incense sticks. Vendors should adopt biodegradable packaging, clay cups, and reusable utensils. A Green Vendor Certification can recognize stalls following zero-waste practices. Digital displays can show waste diverted from landfills and plastic saved, encouraging public participation.

This is the best thing we should add in every temple . while achieving are target we should also think about that no one feeling should hurt in it. We can implement it like by fixing time of each offering. morning milk, evening flower and night leaves due to which we can store each thing properly and futher use it I congrats you for your win but I request you to not forget from your ideology

Congratulations for winning in West Bangal. Please make sure we should not give any changes for Gen Z riots in India. Countries like USA and China want unstable India.
