The National Commission for Women, a Statutory Body set up in January 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990 has the mandate to safeguard the constitutional and statutory rights of women. The Commission initiates program which aids empowerment and holistic development of women so that they are capable to gain access to opportunities and make their own decisions.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was launched in 2000 by the U.N General Assembly. It is observed annually on November 25th. International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women seeks to raise awareness about violence against women. This day aims to eliminate violence by removing stigma and encouraging women to speak out against abusers. This day defines violence against women as any act of gender-based violence that results in or is likely to result in, physical, sexual, or psychological harm to women. The goal of this day is to achieve equality, development, and peace. It aims toward the fulfillment of women's and girls’ human rights.

In pursuance of its mandate and in order to achieve the goal of ‘Elimination of Violence against Women', the Commission invites inputs, suggestions, and feedback from all stakeholders through MyGov Portal, with a focus on Breaking the Silence against Gender Violence. The aim of the programme is to promote equality, development, and peace among the masses.

The last date to receive suggestions/input is 24th December 2021.

Equal rights to girls in ancestral properties must be accompanied with complete abolishment of any type of dowry system and promotion of girl-education thereby making them self dependent.

One main reason of violence against women is their financial dependency on others. One main wayout of removing financial dependency is equal right of a girl in her ancestral and inherent assets. A statutory provision may be made which mandates all citizens of India to make their will and provide equal assets to girl child also. Special provisions can be made for child who takes care of the parents in their age of homely dependencies.

Like we have a "Life Certificate" that needs to be submitted by senior citizens every year during November; can we look at creating a similar mechanism where it becomes necessary for women to submit a Form called "Women Safety Certificate" every year to a Government Hospital/Police Stations. The reason for Government Hospital/Police station is for verifying by people working in these two places to should examine the women who come to submit such a form for any physical abuse or torture.

Violence against women is a social, economic, developmental, legal, educational, human rights, and health (physical and mental) issue. It is a preventable cause of morbidity and mortality in women The relationship between violence against women and mental illness has not been adequately explored.Application of laws related to violence in the setting of mental illness is difficult Despite the social and religious sanctions against it in all cultures, it has continued.

Violence against women in India refers to physical or sexual violence committed against a woman, typically by a man. Common forms of violence against women in India include acts such as domestic abuse, sexual assault, and murder. In order to be considered violence against women, the act must be committed solely because the victim is female. Most typically, these acts are committed by men as a result of the long-standing gender inequalities present in the country.

We should aware first all the children because they are the basic unit of the new developing society. Then we should aware all the youngesters that the victim of violence may be there sister or mother or daughter. Also aware all the women to stand up against the gender violence.
