To address the growing concerns in the present Accreditation and Ranking systems of the Government of India had constituted a High-Level Committee. This Committee considered the introduction of strategic reforms consistent with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 and the need for adopting a simple, trust-based, objective and rationalized system for approval, accreditation and ranking of Higher Educational Institutions with a verifiable and secured centralised database through technology-driven modern systems. Methodologies for facilitating Ease of Doing Business for the stakeholders, duly facilitating students in making more informed choices for selection of institutions/ programmes were also considered by the Committee.

After a series of deliberations, a High-Level Committee has submitted its draft Report on ‘Transformative Reforms for Strengthening Periodic Assessment and Accreditation of All Higher Educational Institutions in India’ to the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

In light of this, MyGov, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, seeks feedback and suggestions from all the stakeholders for the finalisation of the report.

This report has now been placed in the public domain until June 22, 2023.

A better protocol or code of conduct for students to be enforced strictly. this should include no political activities. and no external interference. 2... include indian culture and traditions .. and the science behind it. PHD on Indian subject.... give priority.

recognising the need to simplify the accreditation process in line with the efforts of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), and the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF), the report emphasizes the importance of streamlining and synergizing these entities.

Among the few recommendations that have been made in the report include bringing the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) under the umbrella of a unified accreditation process, transitioning to a binary accreditation system, focusing on outcomes, establishing a new body for data validation and verification, utilizing crowdsourcing for data verification, implementing single-point data entry through APIs, imposing penalties for incorrect submissions, and providing mentoring to institutions that fall below the set standards.

In a bid to propose a complete overhaul of the current system, the central government’s Overarching Committee has put forth several significant recommendations to reform the assessment and accreditation system of higher education institutions (HEIs) in India, further suggesting a more simplified system, instead of the present 8-point grading system of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). In its report released on Friday, 19 May 2023, the committee while highlighting that only 30 percent of the HEIs in India are accredited suggested that it requires an “Accredited, Awaiting Accreditation and Not Accredited” system.

Cheuqes are still being issued by customers for small value transactions irrespective of numerous ways available to make such payments. Hence, in order to weed out usage of cheques for smaller values say up to Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten thousand) penalty / charges (say Rs.25 per transaction)can be levied in order to migrate them to digital mode to come out of this age old way of transaction. Nevertheless, cash can be given for instant completion of transaction, instead of waiting for the clearing cycle to complete and decide the payment based on the fate of the cheque. In case of cheque bounce either for Technical or Financial returns, banks are invited for unnecessary troubles by the legal forums, which is mainly due to dispute between the drawer and the beneficiary and not the banks. Though majority of the people are aware of the UPI and QR scanning mode, "Public awareness" can be further extended at deep root level and a timeline can be fixed before implementing the same.
