To address the growing concerns in the present Accreditation and Ranking systems of the Government of India had constituted a High-Level Committee. This Committee considered the introduction of strategic reforms consistent with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 and the need for adopting a simple, trust-based, objective and rationalized system for approval, accreditation and ranking of Higher Educational Institutions with a verifiable and secured centralised database through technology-driven modern systems. Methodologies for facilitating Ease of Doing Business for the stakeholders, duly facilitating students in making more informed choices for selection of institutions/ programmes were also considered by the Committee.

After a series of deliberations, a High-Level Committee has submitted its draft Report on ‘Transformative Reforms for Strengthening Periodic Assessment and Accreditation of All Higher Educational Institutions in India’ to the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

In light of this, MyGov, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, seeks feedback and suggestions from all the stakeholders for the finalisation of the report.

This report has now been placed in the public domain until June 22, 2023.

THE TEENAGERS WEARS SANITARY PADS FOR 12 HOURS AT A STREACH. BOTH HAVE NOT TOILET IN THEIR HOMES., AND USE COMMUNITY TOILET OR GOTO A SECLUDED SPOT EARLY IN THE MORNING OR AT LATE NIGHT. THE COMMUNITY TOILET CLOSE BY 11 P. M. AND OFTEN UNCLEAN. DURING SUMMER, THE WATER SUPPLY IS VERY LIMITED, AND BATHING DAILY MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE. PERIODS ARE NORMAL, BUT CONTINUE TO BE SHROUDED BY SHAME, STIGMA AND DISCRIMINATION. THIS SHOULD GO SIR PLEASE. CONSEQUENTLY, PEOPLE FACE BARRIERS IN ACCURATE INFORMATION ABOUT PERIODS AND RELATED PRODUCTS, BY USING TOILETS, AND SEEKING HELP WHEN NEEDED. THE POPULAR BELIEF IS THAT RURAL AREAS ARE HUBS FOR PERIOD POVERTY, BACK WARD, STEEPED IN SUPER STITIONS AND UNSAFE PRACTICES_ WHILE URBAN AREAS ARE PROGRESSIVE, WITH ACCESS TO MODERN PERIOD PRODUCTS AND RELATED NECCESITIES. HOWEVER, THE LIVED EXPERIENCES OF MANY URBAN DWELLERS SHOW OTHER WISE. THE SANITATION WORKERS MAY NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT HER BODY OR PERIODS. In the modern era of science & technology the scientific temperament in the students is to be exposed & that can be done only by introducing the courses which can compete with the modern trends & requirements & the modern skills in teaching should be utilised, besides theory there should be the practical work in the field. The job oriented courses in the arts streams should be added & the periodic assessment in the colleges should be made mandatory. In the science stream there should be vigorous periodic assessment & the practical work should be checked & must be given weightage. There should be routine inspection of the higher institutions & the inspectors should assess the performance with utmost vigil, vigor & dedication. The field work in the relevant subjects should be monitored & assessed & accordingly should be given weightage & shown on the performance or report card of the candidates.
