Poor science and maths education (and English) accounts for 80 per cent of total students who fail in Tenth Board Examination. The low enrolment in science stream at higher secondary level and poor-quality education is a constraint in development of scientific manpower in the country. Science and Maths education would need special attention. We need to deliberate and find workable strategies for strengthening the quality of teaching–learning processes for better outcomes; innovations and diversity of approaches in matters of curricula, pedagogies and use of technology to improve the learning levels.

Approaches to teaching these subjects should be Kinetic. A teacher needs to be able to convert the bookish knowledge into a real life example or a short demonstration to substantiate the books claim. Secondly, give them projects, not massive assignments. Like building wind energy model, solve mathematical questions out of the context for understanding use. Creative enablement is the way. They need to be pushed into thinking of practical applications and career prospects in those fields.

Identifying and providing support to dull students is already there in engineering colleges by means of conducting remedial classes. The same method can be implemented in schools also.

Science is best taught with audio-visual CD/DVD and models. Students must be able to experiment and do project work. Villages may not have this infrastructure but every PANCHAYET MUST DEVELOP BETTER LEARNING METHODS.

Textbooks should be use only in language teaching. In teaching of social science, general science and mathematics ; we can use pictures books related with subject or TLM s instead of textbooks. Whenever they come to school without textbook, they feel that they would come to learnt something new everyday. Because of textbook oriented teaching syatem, they forgot what they have learnt previous years.

CBSE syllabus, under MHRD two important sector kendriya Vidyalay and Navodaya Vidyalaya ,my advice is that in Navodaya Vidyalaya 75% student taken from rural areas and Navodaya have big campus ,and no proper utility of this land ,so if additional or optional or with main stream add as subject AGRICULTURE in 10+12 ,then use the land with agriculture subject, its importance in our agricultural based country,in quality education ,and employed new teacher or SUPW teacher

CBSE-authorized discs that contains animations on Science,Mathematics concepts should be for sale as compulsory part of syllabus and should be made available by the govt. along with Science and Maths NCERT books. A number of books by independent authors (not related to the texts of NCERT books) already do this. They have the publisher paste a disc along with each copy of their books.

Instead of the current system of teaching by streams or subjects, we should be taught by topics. Everything we are taught isn't important and most of the things are already outdated.
