Competence of teachers and their motivation is crucial for improving the quality. Several initiatives are being taken for addressing teacher shortages, shortages of secondary school teachers in mathematics, science and languages, improving the quality of pre-service teachers and in-service teachers professional development, enhancing the status of teaching as a profession, improving teachers’ motivation and their accountability for ensuring learning outcomes, and improving the quality of teacher educators. The objective of this theme is to assess the existing scenario and provide workable solutions to address the gamut of issues in teacher education in the school sector.

Teachers when passionate, inspire, motivate their students. It is tragic that many countries have taken the route of "standardized" test performances to prove teacher quality. The greatest measure of a teacher's success is how many of her ex-students want to be friends with her on facebook after they graduate! How do we identify and train teachers for being inspirers?

eg. when I see African countries becoming ready to join the global scene economically, I want my students to be prepared to be part of that economic boom- learn French as many of those countries are Francophone. Likewise, if I see a trend in "aging nations" where specific skills are needed- especially in the medical field, then I want to prepare my student for a possible career in that area with a language skill in Japanese or German.

The issue starts with the simple facts that a Teacher has to be the BEST career, but right now who cannot do anything goes to teaching. Guess what we have a teacher after few years who did not deserve to be a teacher. Simple Steps: 1. Create the best talent into teachers. 2. Request industry experts to take motivation sessions for teachers. 3. Give training allowance to teachers to upgrade their knowledge annually. 4. Ask them to attend various webinars. Use internet and keep updated.

Professional development is critical for teachers every 2-3 years. They need to be sensitized to global trends in education, employment and technology. Unlike industry that sees "quarterly" reports, education is a life-time process and the dividends are realized after 14-20 years of input. Hence, to measure "success rates", data becomes unwieldy. Teachers need to be "futurologists" to predict market patterns 10 years down the road and guide their students towards that end.

Our basic aim in India should be to bring every child to the school and groom him/her for the future . India has geographical ,religious and culural diversity. So to cater to different regions we should have two sections in our education policy. 1. Mandatory provisions --for every one in the country 2 Provisions As per regional requirements : Requirements of people in hill areas ,tribal areas ,coastal areas are different from each other .Similarly requirements of people in cities and rural

Being connected with the Teacher education for past some years - i think this is one area which if can be given attention can bring about changes in entire education scenario. Teachers & teacher educators are the ones who make our future citizens & thus if we want our future to be as bright as we envision we need to work along with them; give them their due - respect & recognition. We need to look at the current status of our DIETs, SCERTs, IASEs, SIETs & share suggestions for upgrading them.

सध्याची एकूण शिक्षण पद्धती आणि त्यामध्ये कालांतराने होत जाणारे बदल लक्षात घेता या परिस्थितीला विद्यार्थ्यांबरोबरच शिक्षकवर्गही तितकाच जबाबदार असल्याचे जाणवते . याला आळा घालण्यासाठीच्या मुख्य उपायांपैकी एक म्हणजे शिक्षकांची निवड ही त्याच्या जातीवर धर्मावर न करता त्याच्या अनुभवावर व्यक्तिमत्व विकासावर आणि बुद्धिमत्तेवर व्हावी असे मला वाटते .

I am a product of "Govt School and Private College" and that is the main problem in our education system. Govt Schools=Qualified teachers + infrastructure - prosperous environment(good company) - surveillance on students. Problems of private schools are supplementary like donation, high fees if govt school are good it auto restrict. Private College=Not Qualified teachers + infra to only get approved +... Problem must address in govt schools = what happens in there when nobody seeing! (What can?)

Teaching as a profession should be given due regards and encouraged from High School onwards. As part of CSR, industry professionals should be encouraged and mandated to do certain number of class room sessions in the nearby schools and colleges.

By modifying our criteria of selecting teachers and also a new system should be introduced in which by every month every teacher are asked to show progress report of five students of 5 students at least by which they have been graded
