Competence of teachers and their motivation is crucial for improving the quality. Several initiatives are being taken for addressing teacher shortages, shortages of secondary school teachers in mathematics, science and languages, improving the quality of pre-service teachers and in-service teachers professional development, enhancing the status of teaching as a profession, improving teachers’ motivation and their accountability for ensuring learning outcomes, and improving the quality of teacher educators. The objective of this theme is to assess the existing scenario and provide workable solutions to address the gamut of issues in teacher education in the school sector.

Recruitment of teachers in Higher education should be on lines of IAS/IPS, as they are drawing UGC scales on par with IAS/IPS officers.

1. The person who wants to be a teacher, must confirm his choice after std 12th. He then must be provided intensive training for teacher for 4 years as integral syllabus of the subject of his choice 2. This syllabus of teacher training must be full of Indian concepts 3. The modern concepts of ICT should be limited to explaining some difficult topics only 4. The main part in Teacher-Student relationship is love and respect. It must be developed during the training courses.....

Teachers need develop passion for their profession. its not mere duty to take a class not knowing whether student understands the subject or not.

अध्यापकों के चयन की प्रणाली को सुदृढ बनाना होगा -अध्यापक शिक्षा के लिए चयन के समय साक्षातकार का भी प्रावधान भी होना चाहिए ा पूरी तरह से चयन प्रक्रिया एवं शिक्षा राजकीय विश्वविदयालयों के हाथ में होनी चाहिए

Prevalent system of education has its origin in colonial times. So there is an urgent need of revising the entire curriculum according to Indian context.This must include revising course structure for teacher teacher training programmes as well. -Indian educationists, thinkers and their philosophy -need and concern of our society -new tools and techniques of testing -innovative methods of teaching These all must be made integral part of such courses.

1. शिक्षकों के त्रैमासिक/वार्षिक लक्ष्य निर्धारित होने चाहियें | 2. प्रत्येक विषय की प्रयोगशालाएं होनी चाहिए जिनमें छात्र एवं शिक्षक विषय पर चर्चा कर सकें | 3. कक्षा 12 उत्तीर्ण होने के उपरांत 4 वर्षीय स्नातक एवं अध्यापक शिक्षा का एकीकृत पाठ्यक्रम तैयार किया जाये|

We have to be careful in selecting teacher-educators. Longevity of service should not be the criterion. Pronunciation, diligence, tenacity, commitment, keenness towards planning- should be considered. Any person with bad habits and weaknesses to be thrown out.
