Competence of teachers and their motivation is crucial for improving the quality. Several initiatives are being taken for addressing teacher shortages, shortages of secondary school teachers in mathematics, science and languages, improving the quality of pre-service teachers and in-service teachers professional development, enhancing the status of teaching as a profession, improving teachers’ motivation and their accountability for ensuring learning outcomes, and improving the quality of teacher educators. The objective of this theme is to assess the existing scenario and provide workable solutions to address the gamut of issues in teacher education in the school sector.

Rightly pointed out that our teachers should be those who are willing to give gyan and its passion to them, not for those who enter the profession looking for alternative means of livelihood. Only people who love to teach should become teachers. We must acknowledge that teachers are one of the most important fundamental agents shaping the character & mentality of the society. So people with passion to teach selflessly and not for any other motivation should be given this responsibility

If the salary of teaching profession is anything near what medical or engineering professionals are getting then individuals with better teaching ability will join the profession and they will be ready to pay enough money for their studies and then we can think for improving the standard of teacher education.

Improve the standards of teachers before thinking of improving the teacher education. It is not the teacher education system which is root of prpblem rather it is the standard of individual entering the teaching profession. The cream so to say,goes to medical or engineering profession becayse they see good outcome in that profession although they have to pay a large amount of money byvhaving loans. Now see the salaries of the professionals involved in private coaching of these students.

Teacher develops child brain. The child becomes parents and/or teacher. Now he along with education system develops next generation. The process is going on and a nation's future builds upon teacher and education system. The teacher should be most respected and high paid post for selection of best teacher. Teacher should be properly train to increase the creativity in children, not suppressing their brain. The student centred education is core of education system in many developed countries.

@Manikanta sai Depala I agree with you in most of the points. The solution is to bring All India Entrance Exam for every subject like our CSIR NET for every teacher, whether its school or college. Without it they are not permitted to teach. Students quality depends upon teacher quality and its most important for a nation to have quality teachers. For details: http://qr.ae/dvbtX

Quality teachers can be produced not just by the education program, instead, they should be exposed to the industry on a continuous basis. The teachers should be encouraged to take flexi hour part time assignments from the industry ( including Government contract jobs) as a supplementary career. The hands on job experience from the industry sectors at a global level is the key ingredient to induce "quality" in teaching. The work system could be well accommodated within the new frameworks

अध्यापक शिक्षा का पाठ`यकम में भारतीय दाशनि काें के विचाराें की पधानता रहनी चाहिए। विवेकानंद अरिवंद रविन्दनाथठाकुर महातमागांधी जाकिरहुसेन विनाेवाभावे अादि के विचाराें की पमुखता हाे। उदाहरण भी भारतीय पिरवेश का हाे ।

Quality teachers were available and will always be available but what actually happens to them is being knowingly ignored and it just seems to be a topic of discussion and not actual work on it. The most hardworking teachers in any govt. school are being kept busy in the office works making bills, file works, RTIs, distributing scholarships, deputed in other out of school works like CENSUS, election (BLO WORK)etc. Most of the officers being incapable can't help themselves, what about teachers.
