Competence of teachers and their motivation is crucial for improving the quality. Several initiatives are being taken for addressing teacher shortages, shortages of secondary school teachers in mathematics, science and languages, improving the quality of pre-service teachers and in-service teachers professional development, enhancing the status of teaching as a profession, improving teachers’ motivation and their accountability for ensuring learning outcomes, and improving the quality of teacher educators. The objective of this theme is to assess the existing scenario and provide workable solutions to address the gamut of issues in teacher education in the school sector.

First of all we are thankful to you for initiate this.In this regard i want to offer myself to work for quality education (for NO PAY).As i am earning I don't need money. I Am enough qualified for this as I have master degree in psychology as well as in physical education and yoga certificate from BHU.

Despite all efforts Quality of Education in Schools in deteriorating on daily basis; this is a big question mark in front of all Indians. We all need to pull up our socks but without improving the Teacher Education we just can not imagine of improving it. We need to re-look into- Norms for opening TE Colleges, Appointment of Faculty, Teacher Education Curriculum, Practice Teaching,Total Teaching Days, Examination System and more importantly regular Monitoring of such TE colleges.

No matter how much training is given to the teachers, it wouldn't translate into performance until the performance is incentivised. Appoint teachers on contract and pay on the basis of performance.

The b ed course definitely needs a revamp.most college just charge a huge amount and give degrees. This affects the quality of teachers. Teachers are the ones who shape the future generations... They should be paid well and free from unnecessary paper work so they can focus on teaching.

We can have quality teachers if 1. teaching is not taken as an alternative job option which is opted for if you do not get into any other profession, passionate teachers only can bring in the essence of the subject to the class 2. Effective training into aspects of pedagogy, classroom management, child psychology,communication , differentiated instructions, taxonomy and awareness of the world will equip the teacher to take the lesson in an interesting manner to the class.

NPE'86 is no more 'new' now, hence it is relevant to rethink on our National Policy on Education. Teachers are the foremost messengers of our national goals to build our nation.For quality teachers we need to have quality Teacher Educators and TEIs.Centrally Sponsored Scheme on Teacher Education was revised in 2012. However, to implement the revised modern scheme there should be adequate funding. Paucity of funds may adversely affect the well conceptualised scheme. To revamp Teacher Education

Quality of education can be guaranteed only by the harmonious blending of both the Head and the Heart. For this Value Education must be a compulsary part of teachr training. Enough focus is given for subject matter but we should remember the saying"Teach the Child not the Subject". For that teacher must well equiped with best training...

Both in-service and pre-service training should be updated as I have seen that some senior teachers are discouraging the innovative and qualitative teachers and even mocking at them for silly matters. And appoint the teachers and other vacancies which are hindering the already appointed teachers as a burden on them.
