While looking at revamping teacher education, it is important to look at both pre-service teacher education as well as in-service professional development of teachers. It is imperative that we revive and revitalise the role of teachers as nation builders – this noble profession should receive respect and recognition akin to the armed forces and medical service. Points are further explained in the attachement.

Since government alone can not cater the need of entire education needs, private educational institutes are encouraged but they shall follow RTEA norms by employing qualified teachers and 25% free admissions to poor students. It shall be enforced without yielding pressures from private school managements which mostly belong to our MPs/MLA,/Ministers.Implementation of RTEA is the only solution by make it mandatory that Private Management shall take DSC/TET/TRT (government)qualified teachers only.

We have to enforce RTE strictly. Specially Private schools shall employee teachers with D.Ed or B.Ed qualification only. 90% schools employee only unqualified persons with just spoken English (convent educated)skills. This leads very poor standards apart from losing benefits of learning from mother tongue. The very purpose of teaching skills imparted to teaching community to make students skillful in all subjects is defeated completely. The private schools employing unqualified for less salaries.

Teacher education is the base for a strong and cultured India. The education imparted in the education college must be updated and needs to select candidate with aptitude and thirst for it like we do in JEE and AIIMS The teacher forms the backbone of the society and hence selection of a candidate to pursue teaching must be passionate. Finland is an example- Highest score in PISA since 2000. Pl. take corrective measures

Aside from revamping teacher education, a way to improve quality of teaching is to provide greater autonomy to teachers and principals. This provides them freedom to innovate and find ways to imparting knowledge that is best suited to their classroom. Being restricted by rules and norms limits their ability to go beyond the syllabus and be creative in their teaching.

Teachers should be given training for soft skills and interviewed for the same . Teachers can personally associate with a student and guide them correctly towards a better future of the student and identify their talent correctly which would need observation , wide knowledge on careers , handling students nature efficiently .For the above they should be trained and lectured on its importance

Salary increment is not solution. In a country where employment is luck, current salaries in Govt are more than sufficient. Need is to improve mindset and respect to individual.Even a child must be respected. Teacher must be respected. Every govt department has to send every employee for a week to a school (selected by lottery) every year to teach a subject, including learning from their departments.(Just like Election duty, Census etc)
