India has a rich legacy of practices and knowledge touching different spheres of life and a scientific heritage traversing various Science & Technology (S&T) domains. The traditional knowledge of India is available in various forms such as classical texts, manuscripts and/or as oral communication that has been passed on over thousands of years. This valuable knowledge is often part of our daily practices as well. Some of the traditional practices are livelihood means of the concerned knowledge holders. Our traditional practices exist in synergy between human needs and nature, often balancing resources and requirements in a local context. However, with time, India’s Traditional Knowledge Systems are eroding rapidly, and the nation has also been witnessing erosion in people’s faith towards our traditional knowledge. A grave concern is the mindless attitude of some to mimic non-Indian cultures and disdain for our traditions. It’s important to recognize that traditional heritage is an integral part of any country’s development and progression. This calls for necessary attention and action from the concerned stakeholders in the country to build further on our scientific inheritance. Only a well-informed and balanced society can drive the advancement of the country.

Under the visionary leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister and President, CSIR Society, Shri Narendra Modi, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is spearheading the efforts to collaborate with the relevant partners from across the country and implement the national initiative SVASTIK (Scientifically Validated Societal Traditional Knowledge) for communicating India’s traditional knowledge to the society. CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) is the nodal organization to implement this national initiative.

The prime mission of the initiative is to conserve scientifically validated traditional practices, and instil confidence in citizens regarding the scientific values of our traditional knowledge/practices.

We invite the suggestions of academicians, researchers, subject-matter experts, students, NGOs, and the public on how to instil confidence in society about our traditional knowledge and practices. This will help us in our mission to inculcate a scientific temper and instil confidence in citizens by stimulating the Science-Scientist-Society connect towards our traditional knowledge and practices.

Television & Internet is influencing the youth of the nation more than any else. TV daily soaps must be made about documentaries depicting Indian culture and values. Programs showing our rich heritage, ancient art & craft, ancient dance forms, trade system, policies made by ancient rulers and many such things must be shown on television either in form of documentary or television serial. This will develop the feeling of love & respect towards Indian Traditional Values in the minds of today's Indian Youth.

Science initially got its directions and moorings from Traditional Knowledge Systems(TKS).Now there many unresolved problems in modern science. Reinterpreting in modern scientific terms TKS to solve problems of modern science should be a continuuing focus, just likeevery generation gets to be irrelvant to the next generation. So all scientists who have good proposals to solve problems of modern science should be encouraged with fuunding support as these will generally be old people and are not working to build careers but solve foundational problems> I Know of one person Dr Ravi Gomatam Director Institute Of Semantic information Sciences and technology who has worked on solving the measurement problem in quantum mechanics and his solution has been identified to have applications in 8 different domains

Please launch Theme based India tour, for example Religious, sports, shopping, entertainment, natural, historical, royal, culinary, charitable, Art, etc. not only for foreigners but for Indians too. This would cover not only places but knowledge as well as experience and activities like kirtan session, Morning Aarti, etc. this can have various budget packages. this can include optional photography service and storage+cargo service so to stay hands free throughout. this tour can be done in Parts like south, North, etc. for better coverage of cities, villages, etc. Guide is must. we have Europe tour, why not India Tour. India is complexe so sitting back is easier than exploring. This trip can be pure veg preferably, vegan is ideal. I am in India for past 13 years didnt hear of any existing India tour, I have only travelled 1% due to lack of knowledge and guidance! Being a woman, not easy to do solo trip either carrying a tent!

culture is our background , it's a background of India. these days in the name of modernization and westernisation our kids and youths are not so much aware about our tradition and culture. if we bring a culture education in school level and if the govt arranges cultural tours, than that will be the great thing to promote culture.
