Tribal development forms the foundation for the economic growth of a nation which carries with it a substantial portion of the tribal population. Supporting the native tradition is the key to building a strong community and a healthy economy. With 8% of the population of India belonging to the Scheduled Tribe it becomes critical for the government to safeguard their interest and promote their livelihood. TRIFED the Government of India established organization, supported by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has been a security net for the tribes across the nation for over 30 years now. It has taken several initiatives for socio-economic welfare and empowerment of tribal communities through capability building, marketing, distribution, packaging, and other supporting activities.

Inhabiting the remotest parts of the country and being reserved, poses several problems for the community as well as the government in assisting their growth

• Dwelling in the Natural Habitat they carry a wealth of knowledge in plants, forest produces as well as ancient herbs, which is tantamount to that of an expert. With efficient support, this can be developed further to generate significant income for the community
• There has been an increase in the rate of unemployment among schedule tribes in the past few years owing to the lack of connection to the mainstream market
• Despite having been given reservations by the central government, residing in rural areas have posed difficulty for them in making the most of the benefits offered
• Members of the tribal community have made noteworthy contributions to the nation right from our struggle for freedom to the field of Healthcare, Education, and Technology. This shows that the community holds the potential to thrive under proper guidance

Taking the aforesaid points into consideration, TRIFED has committed itself to ensuring the all-around welfare of the Indian tribes. This is not limited to just inculcating entrepreneurial skills among them or having built an exclusive brand “Tribes India” for them but extends to establishing Van DhanKendras, providing awareness about vaccination for Covid, providing vocational training, and organizing Trade Fairs on a massive scale. The recent decision to observe the 15th November-the birth anniversary of tribal icon BirsaMunda as “Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas” is praiseworthy and TRIFED would unveil The National Tribal Festival “Aadi Mahotsav” on the following day to commemorate it. This festival is not only a platform for the tribal artisans to showcase their valuable skills but the revenue that it generates for the community is of utmost significance.

TRIFED under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi has been constantly pushing and coming up with reformed measures to realize the mission of Atmanirbhar Bharat by improving the quality of tribal produce, providing technological up-gradation, assisting in research & development and is now keen to see the suggestions of field experts, students, business leaders, social activists, subject-matter experts and all the contributors to this field in order to expedite its mission of economic development of Tribals.

As we mark the 75th year of India’s Independence we want you to have a greater stake in revolutionizing the tribal economy.

The last date to share your ideas and suggestions is 30th June, 2022

As Your Honourable Self has mentioned in many speeches, you have initiated visits of ministers and officers to North Eastern states. The same model can be replicated for tribal areas. Every alternate week one department can organize a meeting with a cluster of villages (not more than 1000 people) to inform them and inquire about various govt schemes. May be this is happening. It was. In Andhra Pradesh as Rachchabanda.

First tribal people should get medical facilities. In some areas there is no proper roads and there is no ambulance service to shift them safely to a nearby hospital and give them quality treatment. Some villages do not have any infrastructure and kids has to walk for longer distance and reach school. A mobile school has to be arranged for such kids and teach them. A shop, a pharmacy and a small hospital to treat common ailments should be compulsorily arranged using MP and MLA development funds. I think these things has to be monitored by a committee and if any MLA or MP fails to utilise the funds allocated should be fined and all basic facilities given to them has to be withdrawn. Tribals should be able to sell their products through Co operative Society directly without any middle man looting their money. Government can allot shops to these tribal people and help them to sell their products directly to the buyers. This will only help to develop their economy.

I strongly believe that the promises or funds distributed to the Tribal community is not delivered properly or reach to their hands, it is a truth and recently been seen in news in one of the tribal communities in Kerala. To make Tribal community self sufficient the concerned administrators should ensure proper delivery of resources from Govt. and there should be local bodies to train these communities for entrepreneurial ventures such as handicrafts, wood arts, bamboo product making, commercializing of prodcuts available in forests where most of the tribal community resides like honey, different spices, small scale units to pack and distribute this items will provide income sources to the community.

We respect Tribal people, because they have lot of hidden talents and also have knowledge about medicinal plants specially now a days most of them are looking for organic products. Only one thing is it should be encouraging from root level to top bureaucrats. The officers who are loyal and specially from tribal area having passion to work with them and motivate them will be definitely encourage all tribal to build confidence in them, that they can earn and go for livelihood and develop themselves and also our nation. We can help with handicrafts, daily needs like with bamboo sticks, Pottery items for cooking and storing, Organic food items, even compost too, Medicinal plants, Jute Bags, Hand made items, etc., but for all this we need to motivate them and giving financial support and also be with them for marketing and allowing to keep them in our exhibhitions etc., Thank You

Gov. Should make tribal people aware about poultry farming at very smal scale like 8-10 hens at every home so at every after every 9-10 days they can sell bunch of egg to the surrounding populated area. It is the easiest task for them to earn little, sometime they can also consume those eggs if there is scarcity of food or if these tribals are extremely poor, and eating eggs would make them fit and strong too.
