India’s Handloom sector is a symbol of our glorious cultural heritage and is an important source of livelihood in the country.

The first National Handloom Day was held on 7th August 2015 by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. On this day, the handloom weaving community is honoured and their contribution to the socio-economic development of the country is highlighted, and the resolve to protect our handloom heritage and to empower the handloom weavers and workers with greater opportunities is reaffirmed.

Let us, together, ensure the sustainable development of the handloom sector by supporting our handloom weavers and workers for their exquisite craftsmanship.

As we approach National Handloom Day, we invite you to come forward & support the Handloom weavers/artists by sharing your photos or videos wearing or using Handloom products. The best pictures and videos will get featured at MyGov – the world’s biggest citizen engagement platform.

To encourage our Indian textile industry, we all should purchase indian made handloom products .Employability will increase and foreign imports will be decreased. This will help country to sustain itself in textile industry

महोदय आत्म निर्भर भारत के विकास के लिए हथ करधा से निर्मित वस्त्रों को विशेष महत्व देना होगा जिससे लघु वस्त्र व्यापारी को सहायता मिलेगी खादी के कपड़ो का महत्व समाज मे प्रसारित होना चाहिए राष्ट्र भक्ति का भाव खादी के वस्त्रों से निर्माण होगा वर्तमान समय मे भारतीय लोग आयातीत पश्चिमी कपडे पहनकर अपने आप को गौरवान्वित करते है जो उचित नहीं है

Our gov.should take steps to make people aware about the handloom sector. Law's of import should be such that it will boost the handmade textiles. By doing this the unemployment rate will get decrease and also empower the people who are not economically. In short door to door "handloom products".

The handloom cotton made in my village ponduru, srikakulam dist Andhrapradesh. I love my village cotton blankets, towels, sarees and shirt cloths and I distribute also.
