The Government of India has been formulating National Housing Policies to provide guidance to the State Governments to meet the growing housing shortage. The first every Housing Policy was announced in May, 1988. The National Urban Housing and Habitat Policy (NUHHP), 2007 is currently under force. A copy of the same is available at http://mhupa.gov.in/policies/duepa/HousingPolicy.2007.pdf. It is desired that the existing policy be revised to reflect the changes in the past years and taking forward the objective of “Housing for All” by 2022.

In this regard inputs are elicited for new “National Urban Housing and Habitat Policy, 2015” on the following:

1. What should be the role of Government of India in promoting “Housing for All” by 2022?
2. What should the State Governments do in achieving the said objective?
3. What should be the role of ULBS’s?
4. What role can the State Housing Boards/Corporations and other state entities play in this objective?
5. What are the key learnings from Urban Local Bodies in implementation of housing programmes?
6. What role can the private sector play in “Housing for All” by 2022?
7. What is the role of industries?
8. What should be the role of individual?
9. How to mobilize financial resources for this objective?
10. What kind of legal and regulatory frameworks are required to facilitate housing in general and “Housing for All” in particular?
11. How can more urban land be made available for housing?
12. How can linkage between employment/livelihood and housing be made more robust?
13. How to promote new building technologies for faster, robust, sustainable and environment friendly homes especially mass housing?

My experience says role of the government should be to check problem that are present in current living style of the target group and bring changes were they lack, mostly sanitation and clean water etc. Aim should be bringing the change , urbanization to there present life, rather then throwing them in brick and mortar houses..

All the available space must be utilized to the maximum by managing multistory residences,but ensure proper arrangements for disposal,parking.the policies should be framed as such that no body should have more than one house per family and no body should be allowed to sell for financial gains.all unauthorized juggies nr the residence,on rly property be got vacated and flats be made available to the needy,but not as free bees.every thing given free is suicidal for the economy.keep the cost low.

If a high speed train runs from Bangalore to Mysore it will de congest Bangalore and it will allow Mysore to grow. Train can go through all the fields without acquiring land. Put pillars in the field and make it a elevated line. This is called growth without affecting farmers. Road widening will not serve the purpose most of the time

Faster connectivity solves many problems. Most of the projects runs very slow in India and projects designs are changed based on political influence which badly hit the purpose of the projects. METRO system in Bangalore is running slow and not serving the purpose.

Housing is Complex issue yet pearl of any country. 65000acres of Delhi land which is wasted in illegal colonies , if properly developed? we can beat NY.10% owner rest are investors/ tenants.AAP won due to it in DELHI so rest of India.. Why not a CENSUS of reality sector for better India and a mature BJP majority.

5. Link all the beneficiaries with their adhaar so that no forgery can be done. 6. In deregularised colonies acquire land with the public assertion and then build multistoreyed housing apartments. and then regularise the buildings and colonies 7. Provide proper sanitation and greenery and healthy environment for the dwellers.

2. 4 storeyed buildings to be formed for housing these, as it will take less investment. 3. The houses formed can be of 2-3 types 1BHK and 2BHK types. 4. Make a minimum binding target for all Real states developers (according to their project size) to provide Housing to the weaker sections of the Society. This will reduce the burden on government.
