Suggestions Invited for Monthly themes to be taken as part of the celebration of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

As a run up to the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, citizens will be encouraged to take up creative activities each month. Every month a theme would be taken up until ...

As a run up to the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, citizens will be encouraged to take up creative activities each month. Every month a theme would be taken up until October 2, 2020 from October 2, 2018 onwards. Mahatma Gandhi in his seminal book, Constructive Programme Its Meaning and Place had talked about 18 constructive programmes. He had stressed that more programmes could be added as time passed. The 18 constructive programmes included: Communal Unity; Removal of Untouchability; Prohibition; Khadi; Village Industries; Village Sanitation ; Nai Talim or Basic Education; Adult Education; Women; Knowledge of Health and Hygiene; Provincial languages; National Language; Economic Equality; Kisans; Labour; Adivasis; Lepers ; Students.

By involving the above 18 themes in 18 months, six more months would be remaining.

Ideas are invited from the citizens on six more themes to be taken in six months. The ideas should be relevant for our contemporary society.

Those who submit the best themes could be given certificates

Slogan of Mahatma Gandhi was : I give, You give, and We all give to the Nation. Which is same as sabke sath sabka vikas. However, the corrupt people have their slogan as : I eat, You eat, We all eat the nation. What is to be realized is: What one can take or give to this world, is only what you are; Not what you have or do not have.

Let us take the important and useful incidents of that month in !940's of Mahatma Gandhi and same month in current year and create an awareness program for Citizens to know what it means to be an occupied nation from that of independent country. How things should be perceived by citizens in today's context and how they can be more relevant and part of the Govt welfare and initiatives, rather than protesting or looking for self benefits.

Respected Sir i have noted there being very large constructions works going on,labourers from many states work on sites and thier living conditions are miserable there being no shelter provided,no toilets,no rest rooms even though the contracters make huge profits.just for survival they bear all these misery.It will be of immence welfare for them if the contracters or the Firms are compelled to provide temporary suitable accommodation,clean drinking water and help in purchase of groceries n food
