Department of Telecommunications through its reference dated 10th August 2017 has communicated that there is a proposal to introduce In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) for voice, data and video services over Indian airspace for domestic, international and overflying flights in Indian Air Space. DoT has also requested TRAI to furnish its recommendations on licensing terms and conditions for provision of IFC for voice, data and video services and associated issues such as entry fee, license fee, spectrum related issues including usage charges and method of allocation and other conditions.

In this regard, a consultation paper has been floated on 29th September 2017 and has been placed here.

Last Date of submission of suggestions is 10th November, 2017.

How is the Idea of launching exclusive satellite to serve the sole purpose of in-flight connectivity. I think this will fulfill the requirement with added cyber safety.

In order to bring out Voice, data and Video services inside flight communication. there is no need for incorporating technologies such as Wi-fi, W-Max, etc., For accessing data, video and voice we can use Ad-hoc based communication inside flights called as Flight Ad-hoc Network (FANETs). Still there is lots of research is being done especially for Defense organization. There are many Andriod apps available on google play store like Wi-Fi talkie it does not require any internet connectivity.

We can provide free local service of WiFi by creating a database. We can advertise about the safety measures in flight, about gov activities like Swatch Barathi abiyan, make people realalise real fact about the charity and other essential components of human being. Inflight connectivity instead of threat can be boon for the Aviation Sector as under as it can : a. Improve quality of passenger services b. Increase cargo load of aircraft c. Instead of introduce In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) for voice, data it is better to install kindle book reader and inbuilt holy books of each and every religion should be installed in it. So, that in the busy schedule at least the commuter can get the time to look to the God. It can help them to be free from stress and strengthen the soul. And also some natural documentary at least one hour and also the videos showing the how to preserve natural resource etc. and finally music classic,pop &rock

No the idea must be limited to providing in flight entertainment not connectivity because that will be very detrimental as other comments have already mentioned.Rather in flight entertainment is also a unnecessary expenditure as most of the people have phones to do this.Rather a way to charge their phone can be provided.
