Initiate public participation for adopting gov. school toilet maintenance (either individual or a group) Fix the period for the maintenance (6 months or 1 year) The cost of maintaining should be budgeted by this individual or group along with administrators. Regular inspection before releasing funds. Fix responsibility on the school authorities (Reward or Penalize accordingly). Incentive the individual or group by advertising on the school premises if feasible. Have a non-management inspection.

On the highway route from Hyderabad to vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh , there is a place for travelers to have their lunch and relax. I was surprised to see the toilets there. There were 2 dedicated resources cleaning the toilets every hour taking turns. Every day at least 1000's of people pass by that place and still the restrooms were maintened very we'll. I believe that by providing dedicated resources in schools we will be able to achieve the cleanliness expected.

Each year the state gov allots fund for Nagar nigam a part of it is for school necessities. Now the school comitee can ask for it to prepare the toilet.but problem is limited amount .so let's take 10 -20 schools in a turn & float tender for local contractor to do the job during night time.the school environment is not hampered & the Job is done...For maintainace there are sweepers available in Municipality if strict orders r given to them for maintaince twice daily in supervision of head master

Following are some of the policy measures that may be thought of : 1) like mid-day meal scheme, make it mandatory to implement toilet implementation scheme. 2) under corporate social responsibility, make it mandatory for the banks/companies to build and maintain toilets in schools. 3) reduce the tax percentage to companies, incase if they build and maintain toilets in schools. 4) give responsibility to panchayat in villages for the implementation and maintenance.

There should be a policy that every govt school, be it primary, secondary or higher secondary school, there would be mandatory toilet facility separately for girls & boys. The principal of the school shall be held accountable for the availability of the toilet facility. It should part of their assessment of service. The school must have at least two sweepers appointed for the toilets. Every year, a fixed budget must be allotte to the schools for building the toilet facility if not already built

Each school should have enough Toilets for students. Most of the schools are not having enough toilets - if it is there, no staff to clean and no proper water supply for maintaining it.Need staff and proper water management there.Keep closed basket for sanitary naphkin disposal. If water availability is difficult, use the model attached herewith.

It is often seen that toilets in schools of not only rural areas but also of urban areas lack proper sanitation. 1.Girls should be taught in schools that how they can use the toilet properly. 2. Girls should be taught that how they can tackle if they start menstruating in school. 3. Proper supply of water and soap should be always availble. 4. Schools should keep a stock of soaps, sanitizers, sanitary napkins etc. 5. Management should keep a check on unfunctional taps or leakages in pipelines.

Schoolchildren are reluctant to use "smelly" toilets. So toilets are generally deserted and potential areas for bullies/miscreants.This has not only hygienic but social repercussions as well. To avoid having to visit the toilet at school, many girls refuse to drink water, exposing them to the risk of dehydration or even developing bladder/bowel problems. Some of My suggestions: 1)Use BIODEGRADABLE toilets 2)Segregate toilet times for classes to avoid crowding Some More details are attached(PDF):
