No memorial exists for the Great Bengal Famine of 1943. Even after independence, India never challenged the utterly false British claim that no genocide happened in 1943. During the Great Bengal Famine, some protesters in Kolkata stealthily laid dead bodies of starved people outside the boundary wall of the Governor’s Residence (now Raj Bhavan) in the dead of the night.
