While each smart city will have distinctive features specific to its location, demography, culture and other such factors, there maybe smart solutions to problems which are common to all cities. This contest seeks to identify such smart and innovative solutions to common problems. All questions in this category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing. Questions 1. Out of the following 21 smart solutions, select 3 solutions that should be applied to all Indian cities and provide a brief write-up (max. 50 words) to explain why. 2. Describe a ‘smart’ idea that you have seen in some other city(anywhere in the world) that you would like to see replicated in your own city. ‘Smart idea’ means doing more with less. 3. Describe 3 ways that Indian cities can reduce the gap between rich and poor. 4. List out 5 essential facts about your local municipal corporation that should be available to all citizens. Entry Deadline • Entries may be submitted online on the mygov.in portal latest by 23.59 hours (11.59 pm) on Saturday, 20th June 2015. Evaluation The submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria: • Do-ability (50%) • Innovation (50%) Award Two winners in each category will be awarded a citation from the Prime Minister at the Smart City Mission Launch on June 25th, 2015 at VigyanBhavan, New Delhi, along witha cash prize of the following amounts: • Rs. 40,000 - First Prize • Rs. 25,000 - Second Prize The winning ideas would be shared with the 100 SmartCities as potentiallyimplementablesolutions and will be considered for pilot • All questions in a particular category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing. • The participants(s) entries will be judged for each category independently and on merit. In case of short listing in more than one category, a participant will receive prize money for one category only. • The length of each answer is limited to 250 words or less. Some unique features of smart city are as: 1- Online governance, all the gov. organisations shud be reached online and must have wifi enabled surrounding for people coming there. Every possible task can be done online and availability of staff for people those r not technologicaly friendly. Eg. Police- people can complaint online & police should visit to the person as per priority. 2- Pollution free, clean and polythene/smoking free cities. Eg. Do clean ur vicinity or call muncpl corporatio.

to reduce gap between rich and poor , all poor should have clean water,sanitation,clean localities,low cost or free medical help,free education for their children and good food but there is no reservation applied for any caste ,it will run on the basis of financial status the family ,who achieve a certain rank should be out of this program . the family who give false information should have to give penalty

smart idea public should be allowed to make shop at home ,it reduces high value of commercial property and make roads free from traffic . industries should be in proper industrial area only corporate office can run as it is

urban mobility 1-in markets ,almost all government land is occupied by encroachment,it should be develop for parking in multi levels 2- all main roads should be one way by developing side roads this will reduce jam and time taken to reach the destination 3-for transport, rail on pillar is best ,this takes less amount of land and time saving

energy management 1-meters should be compulsory prepaid and without meter supply should be prohibited,distribution should be in hands of corporate companies and state boards should supervise and regulate them 2-solar panel should be cheap in price and all have to fit them in homes 3-architecture should provide day light and cross ventilation in building so that energy consumption be less

water management 1-meters should be prepaid and families who are too poor they should have bill subsidy in bank account 2-pipes and fittings should have standardization and should be fitted by trained plumbers,leakage in suppliers lines should be treated earliest possible recovery 3-water meter should make with sensors which makes check quality

4.1. Proper officer who is in reach to complaint about the street lights which are not functioning. 2.An app for taking pictures of the roads and requesting the corporation Of GHMC to lay a proper road. 3. A proper helpline to complain about the improper cleaning of garbage pits by the GHMC staff. 4.Online service to lodge an application for the date of birth certificate. 5.An app for taking pics and sharing location and complaining to the officers so that it can be resolved quickly.

3. Way 1: Build a proper shelter for the poor too which shall provide them a dignity to live with the other members in the society instead of a small hut. Way 2: Provide the grains which are at par with the quality sold at supermarkets as most of the ration shops are black marketing the food grains provided by FCI and providing cheap ones to the poor. Way 3 : Provide employment based on qualification instead of just labor work so that the poor too earn enough and live with dignity.
