In line with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s call to reduce oil consumption and combat obesity, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, in collaboration with MyGov, invites citizens across India to participate in a Recipe Competition titled, " Drop the Oil Challenge: oil-free cooking challenge for a healthier India". The theme of the competition is oil-less cooking.
With obesity and lifestyle diseases on the rise, often linked to excessive oil intake, this challenge encourages individuals to adopt healthier cooking practices and explore the possibilities of delicious and oil-free meals. It is an opportunity to showcase creativity in the kitchen while promoting better health for all.
This challenge aims to inspire people across the country to rethink the way they cook and eat. Participants are invited to submit innovative oil-free recipes that are both nutritious and appealing.
Objective: Encourage citizens to share innovative oil-less recipes to promote healthier cooking and reduce oil consumption.
Submission Requirements:
• It is mandatory for participants to provide (in PDF/Word format):
1. Name of the recipe
2. List of ingredients
3. Step-by-step cooking method
4. Cooking Time (e.g. 30 minutes
5. Servings (e.g. Serves 2 people)
6. Health Benefits (in 2–3 points/lines why the dish is healthy
In addition, clear photographs of the final dish will have to be uploaded mandatorily (2-3 high resolution photo in JPEG (.jpg/.jpeg) format)
• Originality: Recipes must be original and not plagiarized.
• It is mandatory for participants to provide a valid phone number and email ID in their profile to participate in the competition.
• Incomplete submissions may be subject to disqualification.
Evaluation Criteria:
• Entries will be evaluated by a duly constituted expert committee.
• Key parameters for evaluation include:
1. Health quotient
2. Creativity and innovation
3. Ease of preparation
4. Presentation
Gratification:
• Winning recipes will be selected by a panel of experts.
• E-Certificates of appreciation will be awarded to the participants by FSSAI.
• Up to 50 entries will be awarded gift hampers or consolation prizes from FSSAI.
