to promote handicraft we have to take various steps sequentially 1.yarn availability under fair price for weavers.2.Enhancing silk /handcrafted fabric for garment production as a final product, because in international market they like handcrafted fabric but in the form of shirt, top,Blazer etc. They are not to much interested in sarees etc.3.Development of apparel as a final product of fabric generated by weavers.i.e. like Bahamas floral print famous shirt we can make Varanasi cotton/silk shirt

The ways to promote Indian-made Silk Sarees:
1. Advertising through TV, radio, newspapers.
2. There is a lot of hidden potential in small towns and villages of India. Bring this potential through the medium of community radio.this will strengthen silk industry.
3. Set up an autonomous organisation that gives a trademark/certificate of being pure silk.
By this, pure silk will be promoted.

Maintaining quality of work and product will enhance demand of silk products. As this is a unique product with unique features the same should be promoted. Investing on advertisements with ambassadors will erase profitability, should be promoted with normal walk of life public so as to have the reality in the product. Promotions thorugh fashion show will not bring the product heights. Promotion of this product should be from normal walk of life and pricing should be at reachable level.

Farmers growing silk and the weavers working on it live in remote areas. Does anybody see that such areas need maximum focus on development. Do such villages and small cities have private banks, are there ATMs, are there two-wheeler showrooms, are there designing schools, can the farmer direct sell his produce to the weavers, do the weavers have direct transport to the next big city where his work can be sold, can the weaver directly sell his produce in the market and do away with middlemen?????

What is most important is that we encourage farmers grow more silk. It is then to be care of that these villages are well connected with such place where silk is processed and weaving is done. Direct transportation, banking facilities, shopping arcades, designing schools, spare parts for powerlooms etc are easily available.

During every marriage season central/state/dist. stake holders of silk products can conduct displays and sale festivals. Major cities can be opted for this.
Can start an exclusive E retail in collaboration with India post where at rural areas a booklet for display can be used to showcase products and offers. For net users offers can be given based on location and qty.
