For existings schools specially in Primary schools in Rural Areas not having toilet facilities the below points should be in note while constructing a proper Toilet. 1)Proper Hygiene (Hand Wash/Soap Paper/Soap & Adequate supply of water) 2)Electrical Hazard ( In case of Body Current in Monsoon) 3)Frequent Cleaning by dedicated staff. 4)Distance-should be close enough

With out proper toilet facility there is no approval of Govt to Schools. Toilet facility is not a problem in the private School. It is the problem with Govt schools only. Govt giving the money to construct the Toilet to schools but due to non-maintenance of the toilets it will UN-hygienic after few days. There will be proper mechanism to maintenance of the toilets of the Govt schools.

“Various researches and studies have shown that dearth of girl friendly toilet in school premises is one of the reasons for girl students’ dropping out of schools. “In the absence of separate toilets for girls and boys, many girl students do not attend school regularly. Therefore, the government has given priority to construction of girl-friendly toilet.. so toilets where menstruating girls can change thier pad need to be installed.

A share of the GDP for Education should be provided for construction and maintenance of toilets in schools. No new schools should be set up unless they have these facilities. Adding these facilities to existing schools should be done at priority. Construction and maintenance of toilets in school can also be done under populists schemes like NREGA coupled with direct benefits transfer. Portable toilet vans can also be utilized for immediate support in this cause.

In toilets sanitary napkins should be provided. I understand the Gov can't take every burden. 1. A school, government or private, should be granted approval by relevant bodies only if it has proper toilet facilities for both girls and boys. These approvals should be reviewed annually. 2. Toilet manners should be taught as part of study curriculum.

1. In rural areas multiple toilets should be constructed in the school premises itself. 2.The boys and girls toilet should be separately constructed at opposite sides of the school. 3. There should be a woman for the cleaning and maintenance purpose. 4. The duty hours of the woman staff should be as same as school hours. 5. Issue is different in rural and urban area. Probably gram panchayat shall be involved for creation and maintaining the sanitation facility near schools And they can be allowed to charge petty amounts of 50 rupees monthly to keep the user slightly accountable for maintaining the aminities

Moreover Campus maintenance and cleanness should be a part of extra curriculum activities for both teacher & students.Our Dept had applied this formula,and we got success in it. Construction should be mandatory responsibility of the school management. Maintainanace can be done by the group of people fit for the job, who could be controlled by the class monitors of the respective class , where one male & other female would be abided by the duty of supervising in use,cleaning & maintenace of toilets .Children must first be taught of how to use toilets also .
